ONLY REPAIR PLACE THAT KNEW WHICH WAY'S UP. Went several places to see what the problem was with my VW; the Aamco on Melrose was the only repair place in town that knew what the problem was and could fix it! They gave me a good discount, too.
Professional and Courteous all the way. I took my range rover sport to the aamco on melrose, after visiting the dealer. The dealer always fixes my rover, but the transmission went out. They were too high, price wise. They recommended aamco on melrose and I'm glad they did. The car runs great and they got us financed. The price and warranty are a good bargain. Vince the owner really knows his stuff.
These Guys Are Great, Nice, Helpful!. My car broke down and I called Aamco. These guys are great. They towed my car in for FREE and didn't charge me to find what the problem was. The dealer wanted a lot more $$$. Thanks Aamco Guys! PS ~ you have the wrong phone number listed! You had me calling the fax number! There real # is: 323 661-3566
DON'T COME HERE. I made the mistake of deciding to go with Aamco instead of my regular mechanic because Aamco had a 3 year warranty on parts and labor, but man, I feel like I was duped. Vince, who owns the shop is a super cheesy salesguy who tries to sound like he's looking out for you, but he's really trying to make the most money he can from you. He said it could very well be a repair instead of a rebuild, but of course, the cost for the repair vs the rebuild is only a $150 difference. And when I talked to Jim (another guy that works there) to ask what exactly was the breakdown of parts needed and the cost of each of those parts for the repair vs the rebuild, he couldn't give me a list of prices and then threatened me with the notion that my car wouldn't be done for another 2days because I was holding up the mechanic. For $3k, I should be told exactly what I'm paying for and how much every bolt is costing me. Anyhow, after paying $2997, and being quoted much less in the beginning, I just feel like they don't practice good business. You feel like they're trying to pull one over you because it doesn't seem like they're honest. I asked to see the parts that he changed out so that I know he actually changed them, and for all I know it could be parts from other cars that he threw in a box. You can go to other reviews about this shop if you look up Aamco on Wilcox - that was the location they had before they moved to Melrose, and most of those reviews were quite scathing too. Anyhow, it's done, so I'm gonna move on, but just be warned, it's a total rip-off.
dear city search, please have this review removed. the customer is not telling the truth , and is not giving all the facts , she had to be on the road in 2 days , we had to order parts , build the transmission , road test and do final adjustments , we were trying to adjust everything to her schedule , she took that as rushing her ???, thanks vince the owner 22 years in hollywood ? and over 20.000 satisfied customers
Editorial Review. ASE-certified technicians trouble shoot, repair transmissions and provide general maintenance at over 700 national locations.
quick repair and great price!. I had problems with my 1999 bmw 528i and the dealership charged me, to diagnose the transmission. They wanted way too much money to repair the transmission. I called Aamco in Hollywood and got it towed in, diagnosed for free "it was fixed in 3 days" and they got me financed. I would recommend this shop to my mother!!!!!!!!!!
