Editorial Review for Turner New Zealand – by Cindy Randall
The Scene
The long, narrow space and dark-wood tables evoke Manhattan's sleek, space-efficient fine restaurants. The emphasis is on unhurried, top-notch service amid South Coast's buzzing metro center. The legacy of the rugged fishing and farming New Zealand Turner family is chronicled on large black-and-white photo murals.
The Food
Free-range grass-fed beef, lamb and venison without hormones or antibiotics are the draw. Seafood selections from cold, clean waters off New Zealand include king salmon and pristine oysters. Calamari-roasted beet salad is a huge splash of flavor and crunch featuring roasted beets, field greens, minty lemongrass vinaigrette and goat cheese. Standout appetizers are sashimi-style rock lobster and mussels in lemongrass-coconut broth. Pan-seared and oven-roasted, the 12-ounce filet is incomparable in flavor with its fine, dense texture that cuts like souffle. Seafood bouillabaisse is a savory stew of calamari, mussels, clams and orange roughy. For dessert, tuck into delicate chocolate souffle with a warm, slow-melting center.

I think this restaurant closed down but I loved it. The food was excellent. You couldn't go wrong with anything you selected. My favorite was the Lobster sashimi and the orange roughy meditteranean style. The servers were always friendly and sometime the owner was there for a chat.
Pros: Food, Service
Cons: Parking in the parking structure
