great soso food, great fun place, great ther service, friendly wait staff, yummy drinks, very attentive server, great ambience
Probably the best restaurant in WeHo that caters to the gay crowd. High quality food and cooking with high (but not outrageous) prices to match. Very busy on Thursdays; also very loud and crowded at the bar.
Been a couple times for dinner and it's usually all very good. Great steak. Good short ribs. Good fish.
Ambiance is nice, except when it's overrun by the gelled-up, professional (read: 30yr+) homo-set.
Great outdoor seating area in front, but gets smokey fast. Great customer service every time I have been.
They got everything right.
My last few visits to O-Bar have me leaving say, gee, "that was great". There were 6 of us, we got a fun cabana booth and although these table are a little awkward for staff and sorta isolate you from fun scene they do make for a cozy semi-private dinner with good friends (just don't take boring people with you!). Our waiter was great, the support staff very attentive. 2 of us got the Salmon, aske for it on the rare side and it was cooked perfectly...just melted in the mouth. 2 guys got the tuna and seemed happy but the real star was the mussels, or really the creamy sauce they came it. Everyone was dipping bread and frites into the sause.....wow!
On our way out I want to tell the host was a great time we had but they were busy seating people....hope they read this cuz we were most grateful.
Great food. The ambience and the food are amazing. It doesn't matter what you order, all of it is great! I can't wait to go back.
Fantastic food, amazing ambience and stellar service.
I met a few friends at O-Bar the other night. I live very close to the restaurant, but had never been. I was warmly greeted at the door and immediately shown to my table, where my friends were waiting. I had my drink order taken within minutes- the Mojito's are amazing! The waiter was also very informative about the wine's they offered by the glass.
The food was sensational. The burrata appetizer melts in your mouth. We had a special with beet's that was out of this world. The chef is truly a genius...I won't be surprised if he joins the ranks of other top celebrity chef's around the globe, as he continues to perfect his artful craft of cooking.
I left O-Bar with only one disappointment...that I had not been to this amazing restaurant before now, when I have lived 3 blocks away for nearly a year.
I would recommend O-Bar to everyone. Whether you are planning a romantic date night, a family dinner or a gathering of friends, it is impossible not to have a spectacular evening!
Great Cocktails, Ambience, Lovely restaurant!. I always choose a pretty fun place for my birthday dinner, O-Bar was no different. I dined here for my birthday last year (august 07- to be exact) with a large group, more than 10...like 15. They accommodated us just fine. Patient with the pickey's, prompt food delivery as one of my guests had to leave early, helped us dessert options, and great suggestions all around. The server and the host was friendly. It's movie night on Sunday's...Young Frankenstein was on! All around I was very pleased! Do make a reservation, try not to get expedited service on a saturday as this is the busiest day, especially with groups. We did a sunday and this was fine.
The Food is quite a suprise. I had gone to this place for drinks at the bar only. I must say the people that work there have attitude and are quite slow in service. But I like the ambience and the drinks so that's why I'd hang at the bar for a martini. One day I sat down for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised with the food. Really quite delicious so I'd recommend for that. But again, service is still pretentous, snobby, and with attitude. If they can fix that, it might be a great place.
Awsome Place-- SoSo Resturaunt.
For my birthday, I was looking for a unique, nice restaurant to celebrate in. O-Bar fit perfectly. I had about 20 people in my party and was apprehensive about going through with the reservation because of the contract for parties over 12 or 15 (a mandatory $20 spending per person). But everything turned out alright. They put us bordering the bar-- which I hated. It was crowded and loud-- and the people sitting on the bar side of the table kept getting bumped into because of happy hour. The server didn't really have personality-- and I, being a server myself, value that. But we all had fun. Food was soso-- Mojitos were yummy. The Burrata and Marinated Tomatoes was SO Delicious.
The ambiance is amazing. You step inside and you are amazed. The only thing I regret missing was seeing the Forbidin Garden area which i kept hearing was one of the fave spots of the place.
A couple notes:
1. get vallet-- it's $4, cuz you'll spend more in gas trying to find a spot if you don't get your car parked
2. I didn't realize that the place was considered (sort of ) a gay bar-- kind of slipped my mind (it being in w.Hollywood and all) which I had no problem with-- and actually preferred-- but my straight guy friend that got there an hour early kinda got weirded out. :)
Food is yummy. Don't let the post-modern urban trendy decor fool you. The food is very, very good and--amazingly--reasonably priced.
They cancelled our reservation...on our anniversary!. We had a reservation for Tuesday evening, our anniversary. We'd been there before, and the atmosphere and food were very nice. However, the day before our anniversary, we get a call: "hey, we have to move you to later in the night because we got a booking for a large party." Um...no. Reservation, to me, means a commitment. They dumped us for a bigger group, for more money. There's no honor in that. We'll never go back, and we hope none of y'all will ever go either. There are plenty of restaurants with fab atmosphere and yummy food in WeHo, and they're there for their customers, not just to make as much money as they can.
