Editorial Review for Little Temple – by Brian Baltin
The Scene
The owners of Santa Monica's Temple Bar have branched out to the east, giving Silver Lake's dank ex-Garage space a stunning makeover. The look suggests Buddhist temple tranquility by way of Chinese lanterns, bamboo-lined walls, rock gardens and countless votive candles. Comfortable booths in the foyer give way to a simple raised DJ stage in the main room. The adjacent Moroccan-inspired area is highlighted by a communal bed and a wall-sized photomural of a holy man. The grooves here are more beat-heavy than its sister property's selection, but the mood is more of an elegant lounge--though some nights do get the crowd working up a sweat.
The Draw
The nightly lineup is anchored by a mix of deep house, hip-hop and Afro-Latin club nights. Regardless of the music, the alternately tousled and urbane crowd is usually always pure Silver Lake hipster.

Insider Tips
ParkingWeekends, the small free lot fills up fast. Street parking is limited. Beware: There's a lot of faded red paint on Virgil that's ticketed.
Know Before You GoMuch of the bar is loud enough to make discussion impossible--two booths in the foyer are the best for conversation.
Where to SitOttoman-like seating in the main room provides ideal lounging, while the comfort level of the bed-like communal area is marred by an ultra-firm mattress.

So this was my first time at Little Temple, my friend recommeded. My friend from San Diego came to L.A. to visit me, I wanted to show her a good time and hopefully get lucky. So, I decided to take her to Little Temple. At first it was cool, the djs were spinning all the old school jamz. It took me back way back. . . . by the end of the night me and my girlfriend were breaking it down in the dance floor when a fight breaks out and I got punched in the eye and pushed against the wall, with all the rumbling I loose my friend in the crowd. After a few minutes of trying to get out of the crowd I managed to escape, we had a matching black eye and I didn't get lucky :( Overall pretty good place to let out some steam, Oh and good music! See you next week.
Pros: Good music
Cons: Fighting & crowded

Parking lot fills up by 10. No Valet parking week nights. Street parking not recommended. Area is just not safe. Go with a group. Heard the place is better on weekends. Had higher hopes for a weeknight.
Pros: DJ's
Cons: Dangerous neighborhood and parking situation...
