Owned by some of the same folks as the Continental in Beverly Hills, this easy-on-the-eyes Mexican cantina along the famously funky Melrose shopping strip oozes breezy, laid-back SoCal appeal. The Southwestern-style main room with roomy center-bar area is an homage to beer and ballgames, with more than 20 televisions broadcasting local and national sporting events. The spacious outdoor sundeck, featuring large umbrellas and toasty heat lamps, is perfect for laying low, day or night. Enthusiastic cuties zip around occasionally offering up free "fun shots" to a crowd of Von Dutch-sporting hipsters, boisterous sports fans and weary shoppers.
The Draw
The weekday happy hour and daily drink specials make it a good after-work spot or pre-party hang. The alcohol arsenal is loaded with south-of-the-border beers, tequilas and specialty margaritas, but the weapon of mass destruction is the 42-ounce Monster margarita.

We had good and friendly service from the wait staff during the fight . . . HOWEVER . . . . After UFC 94, they staged a mock fight for a reality show(if that actually makes sense). We were told to move away from where we were standing or we could get hurt. No more the two seconds later, the sissy fight started and ketchup was spilled completely over two of my friends. We are talking covered in it. I'm assuming there was no permit for the 5 video cameras that were being used. We ask to talk to the manager. He could care less about our concerns. "What do you expect me to do about it? Stop wasting my time and get the f- out of my face?" He proceeded to shove/nearly assaulting my inquiring friend and continued to use a lot of profanity for no reason. The owners should know that this guy (with the panty liner for a hat) is a huge liability for the establishment. So much as if they do not hand over a resignation letter to him, this place could stripped of it's alcohol license in due time. I see a legal matter in the near future if this manager continues to be employed here. I know this is not the first time he's been written up about either. I have heard numerous complaints from other people including his wait staff. I have watched the last 6 fights in a row here but can't return to your establishment. It is unsafe and a hazard if people do plan on coming in.

i went on a sunday afternoon and i will never go again! The crowd is loud and random....and they always have some kind of event going on. The music is too loud.

Whenever I want top notch steak quesadillas and a strong margarita, El Guapo is a the first place that comes to mind. They always have games on and the place gets crazy packed during football and UFC fights. The people that come are cool - not the typical stuck up vibe that the superficial bars in Hollywood usually get. You can choose to sit inside or at the big patio they have outside (don't worry about it if it's cold out - they have heat lamps!). If you come on a weekend night you can always pick your own songs on the digital jukebox and create your own party. Nothing beats that! Also, they are having a New Year's Eve event and guest list is only $49.95! Just try finding it that cheap at any other bar in Hollywood!
