great place, friendly attentive service, great dining experience, great atmosphere, overpriced food, warm sophisticated art, heavenly dessert
Great little gem!!. Had dinner here on a Sunday night. Did not have any problems getting seated. Shared the beet salad and mac and cheese as appetizers and they were both excellent. Mac and cheese can probably be shared with 3-4 people as an appertizer. Order two seafood entrees, the salmon and the halibut. Both were very tasty and very different from each other. The service was also very attentive but not too overbearing. I do eat out in LA alot and this had to have been one of the better experiences overall. Highly recommend it.
Go for Truffled Mac and Cheese. Went to Blair's on a friend's recommendation. We had reservations, were late, but still seated promptly. Service was prompt on a Friday night. Atmosphere was warm and cozy. The dining room is small and feels very intimate. We filled up on the delicious mac n cheese that we ordered as an appetizer. It was the highlight of our meal. We also had the braised short ribs and sweet potato gnocchi. They were good but rich. To top off the rich entrees, we had bread pudding, which was really tasty but pushed us over the edge! Overall, I'd recommend Blair's for a wonderful dining experience.
SO SO. We went to Blair's first on a Tuesday without a reservation. The very small restaurant was quite crowded and the wait too long, so we went elsewhere. Next time, we made sure to make a reservation. The staff was extremely busy catering to the overcrowded patrons, but we were promptly seated. The restaurant was rather noisy. The menu was very short. The prices were moderately expensive, and the food was just OK.
A hidden gem.
I stumbled across Blair's a year and a half ago, and was pleasently surprised. I have been about 6 times since, and each has been great. Last night I had 12 people there for my birthday, and aside from some timing issues getting everyone's food out at the same time, the service was great and they were very accommodating for a table our size.
The fish dishes are always great, and the duck is fantastic. Must haves: Their Caesar salad with fried capers is incredible, and the side of Truffled Mac and Cheese is absolutely to-die-for.
I would gladly return many, many times (if I had enough money to do so)
Great experience. Had dinner here for the first time with 3 friends. We had a reservation and were sat within 5 minutes (not bad for a crowded Saturday night). Our server was friendly & helpful, especially for our one vegetarian friend. The server offered to have certain dishes specially prepared for her. The caesar salad was quite good and the salmon was excellent. Seating is a bit cramped but still liked the ambience overall. We would have tried the brownie sundae dessert but they were all out unfortunately. Guess I'll just have to come back ... which I'm already looking forward to.
this food is good. crab cakes are the bomb! i really liked this spot.. i went there on off hours so it wasent crowded at all... i loved it...best food ive had in a long time
Expensive, but damn tasty and worth it.. Place is crowded, loud, and a bit cramped, but really feels like you are in a different city, which is cool. Good, affordable, wines by the glass as well as many beers to choose from. Overheard conversations were not irritating like you get in Weho and the like. I pray this place doesn't get overrun by lame Hollywood poseurs. Service is very good and server's knowledge of menu is excellent. Portions are generous and salads were fantastic. My fish was cooked perfectly and my date's steak was gi-normous and she liked it a lot. Dessert was good, but not great. It was difficult giving her a piggyback ride back to the car afterwards becasue of the hilly terrain and my full belly.
A Rarity. Went here with a few friends last week and very pleasantly surprised. Didn't have to wait for a table, although the place seems a little small, so maybe weekends are busier. The halibut was tender with a very good crust, although the sauce was a little salty. Everything we had was excellent (braised short ribs, mac and cheese, homemade donuts, in particular) Good selection of beers, courteous staff, efficient service.
Loved It!!. We decided to venture from the Westside to Blair's and it was well worth the trip! The service was outstanding and the food was excellent. I highly recommend the beet salad, as well as the halibut. It's a charming place, definitely busy on a Saturday night but we got in no problem with reservations at 8:30. Overall we really enjoyed it and will definitely be back!
Eat, Enjoy, Repeat. Living and working in West LA, I rarely find the need to travel to the eastside. However, that is, unless you some of the best food in LA. From the salads (the fried goat cheese/beet salad is my favorite), to the entrees (the pork chop [about an inch thick and meat that falls off the bone!] and the duck top my list!), Blair's does comfort food just right. The wine list is amazing with many greats wines served by the glass. I have followed some of the recommendations of the staff concerning wines and have been extremely pleased with those suggestions. This is a place I return to again and again.
