I wish we would have read these reviews before we made our reservation for a special occasion dinner. I can't believe this restaurant is still in business. The bar must be carrying it, because the food and service were AWFUL. The atmosphere is definitely for the elderly, it is uncomfortably quiet with the soft background music you would hear in the cafeteria of your great-grandmas retirement home. We should have been concerned when we walked in at 7pm on a Friday night and only 3 other tables were seated. We took our 18yr old daughter and her boyfriend there for a graduation celebration, but the evening turned into a parody of a nice evening out. We ended up laughing at every unpleasant detail and taking it as a joke - unfortunately, the check was not a joke, as we spent over $120 for this unfortunate dining choice (no alcohol). There are so many better choices - I would have spent $50 more for a truly good dining experience on this occasion. To summarize, the dinner entrees were like leftovers of bad banquet food. The seared scallops were ultra salty and served with a bland, nasty rice pilaf. The halibut newport was served practically raw. My husband had to send it back, and he did not get his plate back until the rest of us were finished eating. The waiter offered free desserts to the whole table, but when we ordered our desserts he said, "You do realize that only one dessert is free?" We ordered a brownie/ice cream and their marrionberry fruit crisp. The brownie was good, but the marrionberry thing was Not crisp, and the berry concoction tasted like Dirt. The scoop of vanilla ice cream was good, but not worth $5.50. The only dinner that looked good was the Fish and Chips, fully fried and presented like fast-food. Do not be fooled by their beautiful, classy website. Go to the bar for fish & chips & beer - do not count on delicious food and a romantic atmosphere. Who is this Executive Chef Bryan Canida anyway? He should be embarrassed.

I went to Rock Salt along with some friends visiting from the East Coast. I thought the view was just as exciting as any on Lake Union. The place was very clean, our food served promptly, and contrary to the old reviews, I thought the food was good. I've eaten ate Serafina in the past and thought besides the Non view, the food was way overpriced, but Rock Salt seemed fair and had a good view if that's what you want. The happy hour is listed as being 3-9PM which is long for Seattle. Overall I say it is worth going to again the cost of a dinner for 4 is about half what you would pay at Saltys.
