The Fireside Lounge offers sweeping Pacific views and stunning sunsets.Light bites include ceviche and sushi. Cozy up next to the fireplace.
Great place / reasonable price. great location. beautiful lobby and great back deck overlooking the pier and ocean. the deck features cozy seating around fire pits. the breakfast buffets is wonderful. we had a couple of problems, but they were quickly taken care of. our room was not ready when we arrived at 5:00 p.m. we had to wait about 20 minutes. the hotel gave us $150 credit that we used for cocktails, breakfast, etc. our air-conditioner was out when we arrived back to the hotel around 10:00 p.m. but a repairman came 5 minutes after we called and had it fixed in 15 minutes. we would stay there again.…
Review of Papillon (Loews' Cafe/Lounge).
I met my friend for dinner at Loews since she was staying at the hotel for a conference. We decided to try out Papillon because we wanted something a little more laid-back than their feature
restaurant, Ocean & Vine. We sat under a glass-enclosed section instead of utilizing the firepits because we were afraid with the sun going down, it would be cold. We had a great view of the ocean and the pier. But that's when everything wonderful stopped.
First of all, we needed to flag someone down in order to place our food order. The waitress was monosyllabic, but nice enough. Though she couldn't explain the happy hour menu very well. The food was very good (we ordered the sliders, tuna tacos, calamari, tomato basil soup, and scallops), and that is the ONLY reason they are getting 2 stars instead of 1.
What followed was inexcusable. We ordered dessert, and when it came to our table, I took a big bite. My friend got her spoonful, but before she put it in her mouth, she spotted AN INSECT on her spoon. After having to flag someone down AGAIN, the plate was taken away from us and we were promised a fresh one. (I know many of you would be repulsed at eating anything after seeing an insect in their food, but we've both seen worse.) NO APOLOGY WAS MADE - only the reassurance that another dessert was on the way. However, what really took me over the edge was that THEY CHARGED US FOR REPLACING THE INSECT-LACED DESSERT!!!
Never again will I eat or step foot in that establishment again. If there was a manager close at hand, I would have complained to high-hell. But since it takes so long just to get regular service there, I simply took off and never looked back.…
A Santa Monica landmark and full-service beachfront hotel..
In Short
Santa Monica's first beachfront hotel has a lot more to offer than its superb surfside setting, although the ocean views, sea breeze, memorable sunsets and private access to the
beach are all pretty fabulous. Located within walking distance (that is, if you don't mind walking) are the seaside city's main hubs--eclectic Main Street, the Pier and the Third Street Promenade. The 342 guest rooms--decked out in simple yet sleek furnishings and subdued, soothing tones-- feature wireless and high-speed Internet acces as well as TVs in the bathrooms. The award-winning Ocean and Vine restaurant lures hotel guests and local visitors alike, while the full-service spa welcomes its fair share of Hollywood stars with treatments that range from standard to New Age.…
Dirty. There were black hairs in the showers. The jacuzzi area was dirty. The massage room smelled of amonia. When I contacted the manager she had no interest in addressing my concerns.
