In Short
This famous Art Deco lounge--which was featured in "A Star Is Born" and "Nixon"--has long been home to the posh racing set and Hollywood's betting elite. A cozy assortment of club tables, sofas and armchairs frame a sprawling marble bar, while towering metal palms reach skyward towards four softly glowing chandeliers. Regulars place bets and order a JD on the rocks, just like Sinatra always did here.
The Details on Chandelier Room
Know Before You Go:
A traditional dress code is enforced in all Turf Club areas. Ladies must wear a suit or dress or skirt or slacks with matching jacket. Men need a suit or sport coat with collared shirt (tie optional).
Where to Sit:
Be sure empty bar seats are actually empty. Regulars often leave their racing programs open on the bar while they go to view the race from the terrace.
Parking:
Use the valet parking, or park toward the east end of the vast self-park lot in order to be nearest the Turf Club entrance.
What to Drink:
If you're a Scotch lover, the dry Rob Roy is a winning ticket: served straight up in a chilled glass, this bracing blend of Scotch, dry vermouth, and bitters is the perfect accompaniment to the Sport of Kings.
The Extras:
Entrance to the Chandelier Room requires membership in the Turf Club, or a day-use fee of $15 per person. This also gives you access to two different dining areas and a thrilling bird's-eye view of the finish line.
