One of my favorites.. The Sunset Restaurant, is a great pace. The entire menu is delicious. Best time to start your partying there is, right before the sun sets. Enjoy the sunset. Enjoy a great diner. Have some great alcoholic beverages (Double Black Russians). Go outside to the beach and smoke a joint and have a walk. Then go back in the restaurant and have some more Double Black Russians by the bar.

This place is also a big magnet of movie stars. Don't drive home drunk! The CHP is broke and they need your money. Be safe.

great atmosphere. this place has such a great atmosphere, we sat at a table with nice big comfy chairs and enjoyed our meal and wine, and you literally get to watch the sun set out of the windows cause your right across from the beach. the atmosphere can be fun and flirty to romantic, and you can even rent this place out!

The Pacific Ocean and sunset-framing windows set the scene for romance and Cal-Asian dining.. In Short
Nestled into a Zuma Beach cliff, the former Gray Whale space boasts buttercup walls and blue-and-white striped accents. Still laidback, this romantic dinner destination doubles as an easy stop for sandy sunbathers. Large windows on both stories--bar below, dining above--display sunset splendor. Asian-influenced Californian fare starts with dishes like black mussels in Thai green curry. Entrees include maple-glazed pork, braised lamb with tomato concasse and chicken stir-fry.

Great place to meet cool people. As a Malibu local, I am stoked to have a place like The Sunset so nearby. It always has a great vibe and there is always something going on. I'm usually in the bar area with the cozy low sofas, but went for dinner upstairs and was blown away by the food and friendly service. The Mussels were the best I ever had with chorizo! and spicy/smoky tomato broth...yum. My server was Kirstan? and I would request her again.

Very romantic and cozy. There was a music band playing when I went there with my friends. We had margaritas and appetizers while enjoying the live music (guitar and singing). The atmosphere was very romantic, and while settling into the cozy couch we were being served appetizers and drinks. Be aware, the kitchen closes at 9. Ask the staff for extra plates and napkins, otherwise it will end up on your lap. They don't bring it without asking for.

Sunset Restaurant. I've been to this restaurant five times. The first time at brunch, the food and service were great. The second time, at lunch, the food was AWFUl, the service was OK. I decided to give them a break and try it one more time. This time, at dinner, the service was satisfactory, the food was so-so. I loved the location, so I tried a 4th time. The food was good as was the service. Based on my fourth experience, I went there again. The service was satisfactory; the food was awful.

I don't know what's going on with this restaurant. You can't count on anything except the view. They need to get their act together and hire a first class chef. The service is variable. Some training is needed. I won't some back here unless I see some major changes made. Instead, I'll bring my own foods and entertain my date on the sand in front of this restaurant. Someone is really doing a piss-poor job of taking advantage of a wonderful view with mediocre service and really bad food.

Foodie's paradise! Best wedding food I've ever had!. I went to a very large wedding here a few weeks ago, and man was I impressed. I've had many friends get married in the last few years, and was almost always disappointed in the quality of the food and the timing of service when working with a large group. However, this place had their service and food quality down to an art. Everything I tasted was perfectly prepared, the perfect temperature, and perfectly paced. The escolar and the lamb I tried melted in my mouth, and the mini desserts were delicious. I even recommend the bartender, who with well over 200 guests, managed to still mix the perfect martini. This place is truly great, and the gorgeous location certainly adds to its charm. All I can say is that I wish I would have had my wedding here!
