good bad food, great service, bad food, good portion, very friendly server, pricey cost ofcourse, incredible vibe
We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday today, Thursday, August 9, 2012, no lines to go in, but immediately you got a sense of services not being prompt. We were given a table within minutes, waited and waited never did they come back, until 45 minutes later, we asked to please take our orders and can we have menus. Well no one told us, the menus were at the table hidden by a bucket on the table. it took them a littler over an hour to take our orders, with our drinks. The food was good, after two hours we ask for our bill of $179.00 for five adults and two children, average plate is $17.00. The gratuity was included on the bill 20%, for very bad service. I had ask for coffee, and I never got it, until we ask for the bill, I reminded her that I never got my coffee, she brought it right over with the bill. we got our food in pieces, the childs place cames last. I spoke to the Manager, he looked up our bill, and than try to explain that the gratuity is charge on the bill for 6 people or more, we were 5 adult and two children. Food is not that great to deal with terrible services. Restaurants need to understand, that with the current economic recession they will have to do a little more, and better services. The best, was the manager explained that I should have addressed him before I paid the bill, he came to our table to apoligize for the bad service, I will not returned to that restaurant. Unless new management is in charge.
Best Service in Long Beach. I've visited a lot of restaurants downtown long beach and Bubba Gump has by far the best service and overall fun experience. I love the trivia and the stop & run forrest run signs... I wish i could take them everywhere with me! I fell in love with their shrimp dippin broth. I've never seen that anywhere else! Yum Yum!
Run. Forrest, Run! (away).
Went on a Labor Day afternoon, despite the crowds got seated at the bar area after about a 20 min. wait. Parking is a problem in this area, there is a structure for the nearby Aquarium but that gets full - I had to park at the Pike shopping center and walk 2 blocks. Bubba Gump validated but it's only for 90 minutes - between the walking, the wait to get in and the wait for the food I had to pay about $2 extra to get out.
I ordered ice tea, a shrimp po-boy and bread pudding, spending about $20. Best part of the meal was the dessert - a good portion of bread pudding served warm, in a pool of buttery sauce, with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream on top. The po-boy, on the other hand, was underwhelming - about seven or eight small, battered shrimp on a long roll with a bit of dressing, with tomato, lettuce and side of coleslaw and pickle spear. It was served with some fries that were warm, not hot - perhaps because of the holiday rush.
Overall, the food seemed at the level of a chain such as Red Lobster...
Once is enough.
First-time visit on 8/25/07 w/ nephews (ages 1 & 4).
The Hostess said it'd be a 5 minute wait, it was more like 35! That wasn't really a problem but they should be honest about the real wait time instead of misleading guests. Our server was very friendly and attentive, explained everything and offered to get the kids order in quickly so they could stay busy. That was great!
The 4 yr. old was interested in a sampler that was pictured on the menu with shrimp prepared about 4-5 different ways and she stated that they had a child size portion so the kid & I were thrilled. Now it's my turn to peruse the menu and decide on the Salmon and Veggie skillet.
Our orders arrive and the kid gets a load of crappy french fries and about 6-7 tempura shrimp. What happened to the assortment we thought he would get? I let the server know that we got the wrong order, kid ordered the child's sampler. She says kid's portions only come with one, no samplers. NOT what she SAID when she took the order! Fine, kid isn't complaining- he's excited about the paper boat (Jenny) his food arrived in.
My order doesn't look too bad so I quickly dig in. Veggies= carrots, asparagus and purple onions and on the greasy side. Salmon is a good portion but way overdone. Jasmine rice is pretty good but the bottom portion of the rice is drowning in grease, eww! I thought I had ordered one of, if not the only, somewhat-healthy items on the menu. Kid ordered a Run Forrest Run smoothie and it was pretty good. Could have been a little colder but it was tasty.
Less than half way through the meal I realized we should have gone to King's Fish House instead. They are kid friendly as well (the patio and the Crab Lounge are great for kids!), service is very good and the food is waaay better, but they don't have smoothies!
Overall not a place I would be likely to visit again. If you're curious, it might be interesting to check out once but wouldn't recommend it for repeat visits.
Very lively environment.. I must say that I've been here numerous times and finally decided to write a review. The service was friendly and environment was very young and lively. Food was sub-par, and drinks were tasteful.
Cute theme, iffy execution. I brought a friend from out of town to this spot for his birthday and the experience was hot and cold. The food was great, albeit a bit pricey (he didn't mind that part, though, because I paid). The service was confusing because our waitress didn't explain the "Run, Forrest, Run" and "Stop, Forrest, Stop" signs to us. We waited a long time for our food and it seemed like the place was virtually empty. All in all, I chalk that experience up to a bad night...but I'm tentative about returning.
Skip the food. Bring earplugs. Just have the Key Lime Pie..
One dish was too spicey, one was too salty, one was good, but not great. The long wait and the interminable cutesyness, overpricing and overpowering noise makes this a non repeater for us.
Great key lime pie, though.
Mediocrity and a movie from 12 years ago. I went to Bubba Gump for the first time and it wasn't bad. The food was pretty good but too pricey! $17 for my stuffed shrimp but you don't get that many and all you get is a side of rice and some mediocre cole slaw. no bread, nothing. the whole time i was in there i couldn't help but think that they are riding on the coat tails of a movie from the mid nineties. everywhere you look you see pictures, quotes, memoribillia etc from Forrest Gump. It was a good movie but I'm pretty much over it. It was REALLLLY hot inside and I was sweating and I noticed all the other patrons fanning themselves with their menus. Service was slow, but our waiter was very nice. The waiters come to you and quiz you on the movie. If you get all the questions right you get a balloon or something. You have to pay to park unless you can find a metered space...we valet'd. Overall, I would probably go back if I had someone paying for me.

I have been to bubba gump shrimp co. in three different locals and have found the all very good in service and food. true the prices are a bit high but for the fun and good food you get it is well worth it.
I have enjoyed our trips to dinner and have taken several friends at different time and all have had a good time.
Great Restaurant!.
I don't know what that last review was about, but this restaurant was as close as good as the Bubba Gump's in San Francisco. The only thing is that I wished it would be on the peer too! The food is what it should be....deliciously good cajun cooking. Everyone there were very attentively nice, which is very important to me. The cost ofcourse is a bit pricey, but this is what good food cost with a nice theme ambiance costs! We only waited for 30 minutes on Father's day so you can say they are very quick getting you in. The last thing I want to add is that they also validate your parking, which is a final compliment to me. I would suggest going there and try it all and don't forget to pick up a souvenir on your way out... my son did!!
Happy eating!
