What People Are Saying About Gogo Sushi

In Short – Tucked in the corner of a mini mall, this casual spot features very minimalist decor. Under bright lights customers can sit at the big sushi bar or pick from a handful of tables. Chefs fill yellow, blue, purple and red plates with everything from edamame to spicy yellowtail rolls. Each color corresponds to a price, and waiters count the plates to determine the bill. There are also hot dishes like chicken teriyaki and udon noodles.
Good for a cheap fix.

We went there a little early. There were people, but the sushi bar was empty, so we got good service. The conveyor belt was empty except for some sample items. I guess they only use the belt during lunch hour. The sushi was good. The portions are reasonably large, and the prices are competitive with other sushi bars nearby. We didn't have any sushi, just rolls. However, when we were watching the sushi chef prepare other sushi orders, he cut BIG slices of fish. The piece of fish was twice as big as the rice! Seems like a good place for sashimi, but that's not my thing. I prefer the rolls.
- Pros: Reasonably large portions, unlimited ginger.
- Cons: Service is a little slow
OMG, great sushi for low low price!!

We went there as a fluke today because my husband had to conduct some business in Pasadena. We live in Westwood area and generally don't go to Pasadena so much. The prices at Go go Sushi were low, $2 -$3 sushi as well as more expensive rolls and other items. The nigiri sushi slices were thick and very fresh. I can manage lower quality toro tuna but can't stomach lower quality salmon, yellowtail, mackeral, or other raw fishes. Here I was able to eat all of the nigiri and loved it.
We didn't order any specialty rolls but I had soft shell crab appetizer and it was so light, greaseless, crunchy, and just yummy. Better than Sushi Gen. Some of my usual favorite sushi restaurants are Hide sushi and Sushi Gen in Westside and downtown, and this place was on par and even better than these places with better prices and more selections. I was blown away and just impressed at the quality. The sushi chef was very friendly and explained that they have high turnover of fish which doesn't stay long in the fridge. He also said that some cheaper sushi places slice the fish too thinly for profit but that it doesn't taste very good. He really appreciated us giving him immediate feedback and we were happy with their service. We are planning to go there for cheap sushi fixes from now on.
- Pros: Great price, great food

Located in a mini-mall, it's probably not the best 1st date restaurant. But for a local hang out they have GREAT sushi at a reasonable price....the portions are BIG, too! Friendly, casual environment. Try it!!
- Pros: Low Cost
- Cons: Not romantic, No private booths
