Love the bread. I love their bread, cook right on the spot. The service is a little inconsistent.

Too Good!. Let me just say, this place is so good I would go there just for the bread the bring you. The rest of the meal is equally satisfying. Maria's kitchen is one of those places you think about when your stomach growls in the middle of the night. Luckily, there aren't open 24/7 or I would be 500lbs.

BEWARE!!!!!!! BACON GREASE IN THE FRYER!!!!!!!!. I have been coming here on and off over the last 6 years and for the most part my experience has been a good one. But recently in the last few months have been convinced not to bother with this place anymore. In a nut shell, the portions have gotten smaller for their already overpriced food (8$ for a sliver of pie...really?) But the last straw was seeing one of the kitchen staff pouring what was obviously bacon grease into the deep fryer!!!! Their menu claims they use 100% canola or some other veg oil. Restaurants get sued over this kind of stuff and rightfully so!!! I will never return to any Maria's....SAD!!

WHAT!?!?. The Review Above Is Wrong! I have seen them bake their bacon in the oven and take the pan directly to the dish washer! That warning needs to be removed. What is "obvious" bacon grease? And by the way, Their PORTIONS ARE HUUUUUUGE! When I went I had to make sure the waiter had brought me a half order instead of a full because what he brought me was so big. How gluttonous are you!? And since when does their 6 dollar slice of pie cost 8 dollars? If your talking about the tiramisu ( which does cost 8 dollars and is advertised correctly as being enough for two) it is the biggest slice of cake i have ever seen and your obviously too fat to realize how generous they are!

Friendly and boisterous Italian-American spot for convenient neighborhood dining.. In Short
With its black, white and red color scheme, Maria's is a bright, welcoming place full of families, ritzy ladies out for dinner and couples grabbing a quick bite. A handy neighborhood hangout, the menu features Italian dishes and pizza. The fried zucchini appetizer is spotted with sesame seeds, while the capri salad or spinach salad--with Gorgonzola, pancetta, and glazed walnuts--make lighter starts. Porcini mushroom risotto comes with artichoke hearts and peas, and foccacia bread sandwiches the grilled chicken panini.

Inconsistency in quality of food, delivery problems, servers with attitudes. We stopped ordering from Maria's in Sherman Oaks; the food is bland or over salted-there's never a happy medium. Delivery is always a problem with missing items or items being delivered cold. I know more about what's in the dishes and the names on the menu than the servers and some of them are down right rude especially when it's busy and that's not my problem as a paying customer. I've worked as a server before and I know the problems they encounter but you never get nasty with people. The Maria's in Calabasas is the best one I've ever been to, but this particular location needs a make-over from top to bottom.

Take Out Department Needs Improvement. This particular location needs improvement when it comes to delivering their food. They offer take-out and delivery but the food always comes to our home cold, the order has been incomplete and we've even gotten the wrong order a few times. We have called the location but nothing seems to be done to improve the situation. We love the Woodland Hills location when we lived there, but now this is the only one close to us. We just don't understand why the restaurant doesn't value the same level of excellence when offering take-out.

some inconsistency, but enjoyable overall. My boyfriend and I dined here for the first time tonight. The decor is very charming and cozy. Although our server was amazing, the rest of the waitstaff seemed less than friendly. The prices are decent, with the exception of the dinner salad, which cost us almost 9 dollars. The bread was very good, an italian selection seasoned with rosemary and olive oil. My boyfriend ordered the low carb chicken breast, which was very tender but topped with a sauce that was not indicated on the menu....fortunately, it was a very nice sauce.

I ordered the fettuccini alfredo, which was unfortunately not up to par. The sauce was made with WAY too much nutmeg, which took away from the alfredo flavor.

We were compensated with a dessert on the house, some of the best tiramisu we've ever had. We do plan on returning.

I give this restaurant a 7.
