good food, great coffee, always friendly quirky staff, great cook, huge menu, great love this place, great breakfast
THE GO TO FOR FRESH AND FANTASTIC. My husband and I have been going here since we were dating. It's the first place we go to when we are hungry and don't feel like cooking. You can pretty much find any craving you want from their menu and you can substitute just about anything for what you like. Potato salad to die for, breakfast is perfect. I am a great cook and love to cook and my husband tells me I am picky about every where we eat and I LOVE THIS PLACE. The staff is exceptional as well.
A weekly necessity.
Every Saturday requires a trip to Buna. We are buna evangelists. If anyone suggests meeting for breakfast, it's my first thought if they live remotely close to the marina/venice area. It looks like 26 Beach across the street has a great brunch as well, but I've yet to want to pass up a Saturday on the south side of Washington. My favs...1) Buna Omelet or 2) O'Michael's Corn Bread French Toast. I am salivating. We also love the quirky staff there and have gotten to know them by this point. The tall guy is a handful, not to mention Tish the Dish! See you there Saturday.
PS How do we get this added as a candidate for Best Breakfast in Los Angeles?
amazing food.. i read some of the previous statements and i have say that parking in that area has never been a problem for me and i go pretty often and there is a small parking area in the back which people seem to not know about. the food is great and there is a lot of variety. sometimes they are busy and if you are nice they apologize for that the food is averaged price but i think its well worth it. the breakfast sandwhich and berry berry stuffed french toast are definately two things i would recommend. enjoy.
Talapia for breakfast ! WOW!!!!!.
Everything I've had at Buna was delicious. I was really hesitant to try the buffalo burger (lst time), the server was so reassuring. It was just wonderful. But the Talapia w/ home fries and eggs for breakfast is out of this world!!! So often restaurants have a good menu but no deserts. Buna has an array of deserts. I love the chocolate cake.
As you can see I'm a regular. You will not be disappointed.
The Buna omelette will rock your world; breakfast specials from 6 to 8am on weekdays.. Comfort food for the whole family, and "home" of up and coming entertainer Tish (Tha Dish) Roberts. Only downside is it can get a little crowded on the weekend, and if you're driving, parking can be a beeatch, but it's worth the drive-around and/or queue. Tell 'em Tom G. from Table #16 sent you.
Brunch Oasis on the Marina.
When the lines at the Santa Monica and Venice brunch spots get you down, Buna is a good place to go. The food isn't overly imaginative (one CAN make an omelet with spinach, mushrooms, and paprika at home), but it's served with a smile and you don't have to do the dishes.
There's also a huge variety of lunch options, from sandwiches and salads to to more hearty pastas and Mexican dishes. All in all, I've never been astounded, and I've never been disappointed, which is more than I can say for most restaurants in the Marina.
Decent food but not a bargain. Cafe Buna has good food, but it's nothing special. The staff is friendly and usually on top of things. Have eaten breakfast there many times, but the main complaint is the price of breakfast. We've never gotten out of there for under $35 which is a little pricey for breakfast. The menu is large and has a lot of variety. Portion sizes are good and not oversized.
Excellent service!. The staff here is always friendly - even over friendly at times but its a good thing. Good value here for sure as the food is very affordable while still being very tasty. It's a tiny little spot so it is easy to miss. Discovered it about 3 months ago and now have breakfast there weekly! Try the french toast!
Love The Food and the Staff :). I love to go to Cafe Buna's. I try something different each time I go. Fish, Granola French Toast, or Turkey Burger I love their cook! Oh and the Smoothies are so yumlicious. My kids love it too. The only drawback is that it is so Expensive for 3 people and not as expensive as fancy restarurants. If you don't mind spending $60 or more each time you go than go. Of course one person would be a little less. It's just a nice treat every once in awhile.
Always something I want. I go here several times a month, sometime a few times a week. I consider myself a bit of a foodie too and this grub is great! My favs are the Buna Omelette; plantains, avocado, black beans, pico de gallo, and mozzarella. So sweet and savory! mmm. For lunch I will get the salmon salad; $9, big piece of fresh grilled salmon on a beautiful salad and homemade balsamic. I live on that. The coffee is good, menu is huge (but I cant tear myself away from my favorites just yet), and the service is always funny and friendly, and their quick if you're in a hurry. with all these good reviews they will have to buyout the real-estate next door so I can still get a table.
