We came in on a weekday and the salespersons were rather helpful and went out of their way to help us.

I had a horrible experience at this particular Santa Monica Benetton. First off, the salespeople were unusually clingy, following my girlfriend and I around the store to the point where it was a bit uncomfortable. Annoying, but I can deal with that. What I can't deal with is deceiptful sales practices. During the recent end of year sale, I repeatedly asked one of the salemen, Mario, about the store's return policy and he repeatedly assured me that I had nothing to worry about, saying that as long as the tags were on I could exchange for another size or item, no problem. That's fine and all, but I did not ask about exchanges, I asked about returns. What he purposefully and repeatedly neglected to mention was the fact that the actual return policy that day was NO refunds NO returns on ANY item in the store (because all items were on sale). Thinking that I had confirmed the return policy 3 times, I rebought 2 items (now 50% off) that my girlfriend had bought just a few days earlier to save her the difference. (We are both students living off loans so $40 matters.) It was only AFTER the transaction was over that I saw stamped on the receipt in red ink "NO REFUNDS NO RETURNS." I immediately asked Mario the SAME question I asked him 3 times before, but this time his answer was a lot more clear "No refunds No returns" adding, "I told you earlier." He obviously did not tell me because if he had I would not have rebought the items! By not volunteering the return policy information when I specifically asked him about the RETURN policy, he completely misdirected me to get the sale. When I came back a week later the store would not even allow store credit -- I could only exchange in the store right then and there, forcing me to spend the money on items I did not even want or need. I generally never run into problems like this because I always triple check store policies. I've never encountered such horrible store policy and customer service in my life.
