Editorial Review for Zeke's Smokehouse BBQ – by Randi Schmelzer
In Short
This storefront's jagged brick, rustic wood and brushed-steel decor gives off a down-home-meets-bistro vibe. Diners grab seats on the patio or near the open kitchen barbecue pit. Hickory wood-smoked meats arrive dry, with three barbecue sauce options: red-hot, spicy-sweet and mustardy. Entrees include beef brisket, chicken, baby back ribs and hot links, accompanied by classic sides such as coleslaw, baked beans, sweet potato fries, hush puppies and Texas toast.

Not quite as good as Baby Blues BBQ, but oneof the only decent BBQ joint in the Hollywood. The mains are hit-and-miss... I liked their pulled pork (moist and juicy, but lacking the smoky flavor) and their pork spare ribs. But the sausage was mediocre, as were the beef ribs. Sides are decent. The fries are crisp and not greasy at all. The BBQ beans are smoky, tender, and flavorful. Corn bread is not the best, but adequate. I used to think this place was too expensive, but they have mellowed their prices a bit recently. Usually a BBQ combo special with 1 main and a side can be had for $9 to $11. Most of their BBQ combos on the menu (2 meats, 2 sides) are HUGE and can easily be split by two people, so justifying the $12-$18 price tag. Drinks are expensive. Ambience is nice enough, upscale casual. Place is hardly ever crowded, and a nice joint to drop into after a marathon shopping trip at the Target next door.
Pros: pulled pork, french fries
Cons: can be pricey. expensive drinks.
