The Scene
The 5 Dudley address should be familiar to foodies who once flocked to the eponymous restaurant formerly occupying this beach-adjacent space. With few interior changes--Venetian carnival masks and photographs of the watery city--the room bustles with the energy of co-owner Stafano de Lorenzo, formerly of Il Moro, while well-heeled locals contribute to the cheerful din.
The Food
Delicate flavors of northern Italian cuisine blossom in the hands of Antonio Mure (Locanda Veneta and Valentino in Las Vegas). Fettuccini with black truffles features al dente pasta with earthy truffles, which the chef gleefully shaves tableside. Another must-have is the tortelli di patate e fichi, a meltingly tender potato-fig ravioli dressed lightly in a butter-sage sauce. The tagliata de manzo, a perfectly cooked culotte steak topped with fresh arugula and nutty Parmesan will please carnivores, while the crema di vaniglia rewards the sweet tooth with its gooey Italian spin on creme caramel.

A friend once brought me here and on first impressions i wasn't sure about this little hole in the wall Italian joint surrounded by hoards of Venice homeless. But i was instantly won over by the owners (who are also the waiters) and by the stupendous food choices. I have lived in New York and LA and find this restaurant to be the best food i have experienced in either city. I live about 40 minutes away from Venice but it has been worth the drive every time. I highly recommend Piccolo.

Piccolo is the best Italian in LA-and I lived in Italy for years, so I'm very picky. Come here for great food and amazing service. The wine reversal dinner hosted once a month is something to be experienced! Don't come here if you like Olive Garden style americanized Italian food. The chef, owner, and sommelier are all Italian and take great pride in creating original menus with the freshest seasonal ingredients. There are several large parking lots nearby and parking on Pacific after 8pm. They do take reservations now and the website is Piccolovenice

I think they Piccolo believe's that they are so Cool and Hip that they forget they are their to SERVE customers ! I was really excited to go after so much has been written about this local eatery- BUT what a JOKE- I will never return-Sorry Piccolo-you guys act as tho we AS customers should be grateful for dining with you ! Change your frigging attitude- LA already has enough prima donna's- Don't go to this place unless you like people to charge you for abuse-
