The Scene - The 5 Dudley address should be familiar to foodies who once flocked to the eponymous restaurant, formerly occupying this beach-adjacent space. With impressive interior changes, maintaining their Venetian and humble characteristic --carnival masks and photographs of the watery city-- and a recent, stunning remodeling the room bustles with the energy and the human approach of restaurateur Vittorio, and the support of wine director Pietro, while well-heeled locals contribute to the cheerful din. The Food - Delicate and quite original flavors of superb and uncommon Italian…

our favorite restaurant
by foodiegirl9
I had to comment here because this is one of our favorite restaurants. First of all, the ambience is fantastic. It feels like you are walking into a restaurant in Venice, Italy (where the chef Bobo is from). The food is so creative and prepared with love and care. To name Fraiche as one of your favorite Italian restaurants is telling as it is not Italian. Look at the reviews on Open table and I think you get a more accurate view of what this place is all about. If you want an Italian meal prepared with thoughtful care, an imagination to what goes into it, eat here.
Very bad experience
by MH Breton
Service was soooo bad that it ruined the experience.
1. Food was average, but sooooo not worth the price. Other italians in town are way better (Osteria Mozza, Giorgio Baldi, Osteria Angelini, Ago, Fraîche, to name a few that we tried and liked).
2. We had a reservation, but still waited 45 minutes outside, even if a table was available. I insisted to get it so they gave it to us. We felt that they were trying to keep it for "better" people.
3. We asked for balsamic vineager to add to the olive oil that they serve with the bread. The waiter ignored our demand twice (said yes but never brought the vineager). The 3rd time we asked, he said that he would not bring the balsamic because they were serving the bread like thay do in Italy and that if we were more knowleageble, we would not ask for that! What an insult! We've been to Italy and that's where we started eating bread + oil & vineager.
4. My wife is vegetarian so she ordered only an apetizer and some pastas (primo platti). The waiter, as soon as our plates were finished, brought the bill and told us that the manager wanted us to leave because we had not consumed enough! We had not finished our wine yet and they were kikking us out.
Overall : Awfull.
Awful. Simply AWFUL.

you would think when something is overpriced, it would be at least tasty. well, not only was the food gross, but it was as if the chefs were trying too hard. they had all the fancy schmancy ingredients, but they MAJOR FAILED when they cooked it.
the appertizers were undercooked and tasted wrong. the dinner: raviolis were too garlicy, the venison ragu tasted like chef boyardee. needless to say, we skipped dessert. and grabbed a beer down the road. which was better and more reliable than our over $100 (with no liquor) dinner.
dont even waste your time.

Wonderful take on Italian home-cooking with a modern flair. Terrific location by the beach, very quaint. I highly recommend it. The service is great-you're taken care of well. Very nice assortment of wines.
