What People Are Saying About Little Ethiopia Restaurant

In Short – Opened in 2004, this Ethiopian eatery is divided into two separate sections--the smaller main room, awash in kelly green walls punctuated by tribal art and images of African animals, welcomes guests with a handful of tables and a makeshift hut of mesobs (woven straw tabletops). Just steps beyond the open kitchen--which turns out chicken and vegetarian combos for breakfast, lunch and dinner--lies the dining-room-for-hire that can hold up to 85 people.

Worst Restaurant experience
by dravb at Citysearch
I had such a terrible experience at this restaurant. I would have walked out before eating except I had already pre-purchased food through an online deal site.
There was only 1 woman working the floor and although she is Ethiopian she seems to have something against non-white people. I was waiting in a long line of people to be seated, at the front of the line and the only non-white person in the place. She kept ignoring me and helping to the people behind me. The first time I let it slip because the people behind me said they had a reservation, although she did not know this when she decided to approach them and ignore me. So after she seated them she came back and tried to seat the next group of people behind me, and at that point I had to say something to her and she said , "well here sit down." She also had said since the restaurant closed at 8:00, she didn't think I would be seated and I should come back tomorrow, it was 6:45, so I asked her if she was saying that no one else would be served in the next hour.
So again, I would have gone to my favorite Ethiopian restaurant Merkato down the block if I had not already payed, but I stayed and when we were finished eating and wanted the check she kept walking by us and looking right at us, but walking by and seating more guests. She seated 3 more tables just in the time I was waiting for my check, so I wonder why she thought it was too late to eat when I came in.
The food was ok, but since I am not new to Ethiopian cuisine, I know I can get better without such horrible service.
