Extremely satisfying!.
I have searched everywhere in Los Angeles to find a Salon that has a deep passion and knowledge for treating hair, not to mention an international presence...that salon is Duarte! As an model and actress my hair goes through so much pulling and tugging on set. Eva and Erica have transformed my limp and over-stressed hair into long, rich and healthy hair. They educated me on my new favorite line, Leonor Greyl. I believe in this product so much that I had my hair done in Paris, where Leonor Greyl is based! I can't thank Eva and Erica enough! I am looking forward to my next Protein treatment, which I highly recommend to anyone who needs an extra hair lift!
Love LOVE LoVe this salon and they serve Lavazza cappucinos and espressos for all of you european coffee lovers :-)
love my cut.
I found Duarte online and did a little research before going in. I elected for the "stylist" level cut which is the starting rate and I can say that I got my moneys worth and then some!!
Erica was my stylist and couldn't have been more genuine and produced a great cut. The salons style, feel and look is very cool and Euro feeling, especially for the Hollywood/Franklin village neighborhood! Go see Erica!
best haircut.
When I entered Salon Duarte for the first time a few weeks ago, I was fooled by the sparseness of the salon. I was thinking: "Is this place just opening? I don't want someone fresh out of school to cut my hair." I was wondering where all the tools of the trade were kept, where all the people that should be bustling in and out of the salon had gone, and where they kept all of those hundreds of products that were going to be pushed onto me? I had no idea the treat that was coming my way.
When I sat in stylist John Paul's (also known as "JP") chair, the magic began. Out of a very organized and hidden compartment came his tools. He actually listened to me and my wishes for my hair. He didn't try to change my mind or do his own cut behind my back. When I asked him for ideas, he clearly knew what he was talking about and we collaborated on a cut that I would be comfortable with and that would make me look my best.
Looking around the salon during my appointment, I realized that I really like being a big fish in a small pond. There are 3 stylist that work at Salon Duarte, so at the most there are 7 people (including the extremely friendly and helpful receptionist) in the salon at any time. This made me feel like I was at home. Salon Curate clearly knows how to create an inviting aphaphnospher for their clientele. At one point, a woman with a lovely accent approached me while in JP's chair, engaged me in conversation and made several inquires and comments about my hair, all of which were insightful and helpful. Turns out that lovely voice belongs to the owner of Salon Duarte, Eva Diaz Duarte. Eva has a wonderful spirt and clearly cares about all the clients that walk through her door.
At the end of the appointment, JP showed me the products that he used on my hair and explained in detail what those products did for my hair. Here's the catch: I could actually see the results of the products, and he didn't push me to purchase them! What a relief.
Within 30 seconds of leaving the salon, I received my first complement on my hair, along with "I've got to know who does your hair!" Five minutes later, I had collected 2 more compliments. A few days later, I did piece for work (I'm a host for various television projects) . Watching myself on camera, I saw how alive my hair was. The style that JP cut for me gave my hair more movement than I think I've ever had. What JP told me was true: I would have to do minimum work to achieve maximum results. And, as my hair grows, it continues to get better.
The bottom line: Salon Duarte is a simple in appearance and full of sophistication.
Excellent service and cut. I had my hair cut at Duarte salon last weekend for an Oscar event. I really wanted my hair to look and feel great. John Paul not only listened to what style I wanted but he went above and beyond what was needed. He used the Kerastase line, which I highly recommend as it in the best product that has been used on my hair EVER. He did not push me to purchase any products and I felt no pressure. I had questions regarding my hair condition and he was able to give me very helpful advice. The cut, style and blowdry looked amazing. I am so glad I chose this salon to go to before my event! I was impressed by the professionalism and non-pressure of the salon. I will definitely be going back!
worst haircut ever.
Unfortunately I got the cut from a level 3 and not Eva and I can honestly say it was the worst haircut I have ever had. To me, the $135 price difference between levels denotes the salon's inability to maintain a consistently high standard. A $50 cut at this salon is the equivalent to blindfolding a friend, spinning them around a few times, putting scissors in their hands and telling them to just go at it.
The woman that cut my hair completely disregarded what I had requested and her lack of skill/experience was realized too late. It seemed like she had in her head what she wanted to do and did it despite it being contrary to my request. I understand that a $50 haircut is cheap but in retrospect I would pay $500 (minimum) to have not gotten that haircut. Maybe Eva should spend more time training her level 3's or at the very least keep a closer eye on what they are doing.
The Kerastase products may be nice but they were being shilled with all of the finesse of a desperate used car salesman on a rainy day.
The only positive I could find is that the salon itself was nice, clean and comfortable.
Best Haircut in LA.
I was completely surprised by the service and professionalism at Salon Duarte. My first visit was Feb. 27th 2008, and it will not be my last. I left with the best Haircut I have had in about 20 years. Getting my start out as a model, in the 80's, for Sebastian International,I have always pursued the perfect cut.(So I think I know alot about hair.) Well I finally found it! I also love great service. Which is what I was given from the first moment I contacted Salon Duarte, when making my appointment. I was given a confirmation call the day before, just to remind me. Then when I arrived I was greated by both Justin who manages the bookings and the Salon, and Michelle one of the Stylist. Once greated I was then introduced to the owner Eva Duarte, who personally gave me her once over, to ensure that I would get the cut I wanted. I wanted to cut off more than 12" of hair, and donate it to "Locks of Love" . My hair was measured and cut by Eva, and then Michelle, stepped in to wash and cut the final look. Michelle did a great job, and followed along with what Eva had envisioned for my new style. SInce I was going from such long hair, to a new hipper much shorter look, I was a little nervous, but Michelle and Eva were so professional and personable at the same time, I relaxed more and more throughout the cutting process. I left with the best cut I have had in about 20 years. I have gone to two great very well known Salon's in Beverly Hills during those years, and never left with the "Hair High" as Michelle called it. I will be back and I will now only trust Salon Duarte with my hair. If you are thinking about going, please do. The Salon has a "boutique" setting which I really enjoyed. So to finish my review...
I rate Salon Duarte as a 10!
Best hair cut EVER!!!. Eva and Michelle were the best. I left the salon feeling so great about my hair. My husband loved loved loved it! I'm happy to drive 1.5 hours in traffic to continue getting my hair care at Duarte's. It's more than a hair cut. It's treatment, suggestions, concern and real care for my "less-than-perfect" hair.
EVA... is the best!.
She approaches hair as an art form. She's extrmemly professional while being true to her Spanish heritage as she combines the two and it comes together as something quite extraordinary.
I asked her to update my long locks into a long layered sexy Bridget Bardot look and I got more than I bargained for! I stepped off the plane in NYC and got a little too much attention and felt more amazing than I have in ages. Girls, I'm a tough critic and have and rather discerning eye for fashion and honestly it doesn't get better than this. Very few can create styles and are a "trend setters", if you will... what a true trend setter really is.... one who is not afraid to be themselves, and doesn't conform to what is safe or in US magazine. Cheers to the next, "REAL, it hair stylist"!
Never felt so good about my hair.
I have been searching high and low for a new salon since my hairdresser of 6 years moved awaylast year. I now have found it and couldn't be happier. I had my hair highlighted and my stylist (Brent) was amazing and everyone was sooo friendly.
I highly recommend this salon. It was a great experience!!
amazing cut & color. I have been a customer at many LA and NYC salons, but my hair has never, ever looked better than since I started going to Salon Duarte. Truly, Valerie and Eva are the best!
