good steak, best eye tuna steak, great wonderul service, great simple food, really love steak place, perfect restaurant, cold big room
Steakhouses don't get any more luxe than this Beverly Hills affair, created by Wolfgang Puck to cater to the cream of LA high society when in a meaty mood. The steak is wonderful though, if you aren't paying.

Decor is simple and modern. As an enthusiast of mid-century modern design, details such as the Eames chairs were much appreciated. Service was incredible. All staff was attentive and friendly. David Blackmore Ranch Australian Wagyu Filet Mignon is to die for.

Wolfgang Puck's swanky Beverly Hills steakhouse is as much about the see-and-be-seen scene as it is about expertly aged beef.
not that impressed.
I am a self proclaimed foodie and love a great steak. I have had Wagyu before (at the French Laundry) which was wonderful, so when I ordered it from CUT I expected excellence and was very disappointed. The 6 oz Wagyu filet mignon was requested to be cooked medium-rare, and came out more on the medium side, and in some parts of the steak almost medium well. The steak as a whole was not cooked evenly which was a surprising for a restaurant of that caliber. The appetizer on the other hand, was very unique and flavorful, but still did not make up for the fact that they ruined a great piece of steak by not cooking in right. My friend who I was with ordered the Rib-eye, and although they claim to have nicely "marbled" steaks, hers left something to be desired. More than 30% of her steak was fat. I do have to say though that the flavor on both of the steaks was very good.
The ambiance was not quite up to par with what I would expect for a high end steak house. When we arrived, and it was still light out, the inside of the restaurant looked like a museum cafe rather than the fine dining restaurant it was.
Overall I would say this about CUT, the service was great, the meal was below my expectations, and the aesthetics could have used some work.
wasn't that impressed.
I have been to the CUT in Las Vegas. This one doesn't even compare.
Yes, I have to admit, we did see 2 celebrities, but that doesn't justify a great experience at a restaurant.
Their prices are ridiculously outrageous.
I asked the server for his suggestions for a juicy steak, and he recommended the bone in rib eye steak. I asked for it to be prepared medium. When I got it, not only was it very dry, and tasted a little bit of char burn on the surface of the steak, but I specifically told him I wanted juicy. There was no juicy in this steak.
Also...their side orders were the size of my palm, and averaged anywhere between $8-15.
I don?t want to say it was a bad experience, but I expected much more, especially since the Vegas one was a great experience all around.
Great location and people watching..
My boyfriend and I decided to try CUT for his birthday dinner last night. Even booking three weeks in advance, all I got was a 9:00 reservation. We arrived at 8:15, and checked in with the hostess, who was nice. Perhaps it was because I was polite and didn?t demand ?a good table,? like some reviewers. We told her we would be at Sidebar. My boyfriend got the midsommer and Rosemary Collins; I had the Wilshire and bellissima. The drinks were pretty stiff, though $17 is steep.
Our table was in the middle of the restaurant, and there were two tables six inches to either side of us. The decor is odd: there are pictures of celebrities on the walls and on the backs of the menus. But I know a lot of big names come to CUT ? Avril Lavigne and her husband were near us (and we met Wolfgang Puck as well). With dinner, my boyfriend got red wine, and I got a classic martini. My boyfriend started with the oxtail soup with bone marrow dumplings, and I had the butter lettuce, avocado and blue cheese salad. All was great! My boyfriend got a 14 oz NY strip of the Nebraska beef, with spinach and garlic. I got the big eye tuna steak with wasabi butter and tempura battered onion rings with homemade ketchup. The butter could have used more kick. We also got a trio of mustards. My boyfriend ordered his steak medium-rare, but it was more on the medium side. It got a little tougher as it cooled, as his spinach wasn?t very hot. But overall, it was definitely edible and better than many meals we?ve had. Our waiter, Jean Paul, was great.
Our bill for two, including tax, tip, and our two cocktails, was $330. Was it worth it? I don?t know ? you can look at their menu for yourself, and if you?re willing to spend that much, try it. The drinks and the celebrity sightings probably made it worth the price for me. Would I go back? It depends who I was with, but I?ve said that about good restaurants before, as there are just a lot of good places to try in LA.
The perfect restaurant. This is the perfect restaurant. They have the best steaks, best bread, best fries, best of everything. Superior service, friendly waiter, extremely attentive bus boy. Five stars all around, will return for sure.
Rather OUTBACK. Well i had to make reservations for a month out and still had a bad table near the kitchen door. I don't understand when i emphasized to the hostess on the line that i wanted a good table for 4 id end up sitting in that place. Well all was well no problem. Until the ordering came. The waiter was in a rush to take our order and just saying he will come back every 2 min to see if we were ready. Having never been to this restaurant i wanted to read what was on the menu. Maybe they should publish what they make online so we can get an idea what to expect to eat right when we get there. Besides this lets move on to the food. Nice and visually appealing but not flavorful. No way in heck did my steak taste normal let alone great. I'd take my money for a 20 ounce Melbourne at OUTBACK then this place again, but in all it was an experience. None of my family wished to return to this restaurant again and if your craving a variety of meats. Fuga De Chao is better on that part and great service too. As an option if you don't like the Aussie style Outback. Face it, if you can do some research and read about a restaurant i'm sure you can learn a new way to cook your own steak at home on a nice fire grill just as good. And remember when you go out to eat at places like CUT you take a chance. Kinda like Roulette. But don't take my word for it. Give it a try. We do live in America where we are free to eat and think what we like. Just my 2 cents.
CUT ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
What a wonderful dining experience - my friends and I went several months
ago during the week and had a fabulous table as well. I am a native of
L.A. and have never seen soo many celebs in one nite:
Don Cheadle
Justin Timberlake
Ringo Starr
A retired NFL player (whose name I can not recall)
The steaks are juicy and simply melts in your mouth and the evening ended with
Wolfgang Puck walking to our table to say hello - what a night, what night and upon my HIGH recommendation,
several of my friends have dined here also.
Best Steak Ever!!. WOW - doesn't even describe this restaurant - this experience. Try the Japanese Kobe - it's expensive - but you won't be disappointed. Service is incredible - atmosphere top notch - by far the best meal we've ever had (and we've had plenty) at an upscale restaurant. I'd give more than 5 stars if I could! Hope to visit LA again - only to go to Cut - it's worth the trip wherever you are coming from!
Insolent service by the hostess. I usually don't take time to write bad reviews: I just don't frequent the place again if I don't like it. However, the treatment that my husband and I got when we arrived for his birthday dinner last Friday was implorable. I'd made a really early reservation (5:30pm) for a birthday dinner. We were driving in from Agoura Hills so with traffic it took us about 2 hours to get to the restaurant. When I realized that we would be running late I called the restaurant TWICE before our reservation time to let them know we would be late. They informed me of the 15 minute grace period. When we arrived at the restaurant we were 25 minutes late but still it was only 5:50. The restaurant was EMPTY! The lady I spoke to on the phone was courteous and was trying to figure out what to do when another hostess rudely interrupted us and told us that the table was released and we coud eat at the bar. We pleaded that this was a special occasion and we already knew our table wasn't re-booked till 7pm why couldn't we sit and quickly order? I guaranteed that we would order as soon as we were sat. She obviously was enjoying this and had no intention of trying to accomodate us nor did she feel bad about it. If the situation would have been handled with a different attitude, we probably would have eaten at the bar. But this hostess was the rudest person I'd even encountered in LA. She didn't even apologize or even sympathize with our situation. She was enjoying her power trip. I wonder if she knows she's not finding the cure to cancer in her position- she's seating people and handing out menus for goodness sake. We eat out a lot and love steak but I'd never go back there until the management reassesses the quality of their service at the hostess stand.
Service great, food surprising average. Had dinner at Cut while in LA before the Dixie Chicks/Eagles show. This certainly is a beautiful restaurant with sleek lines, lighting, and sparse, elegant decor. Service is fantastic and treated us so well. The wine list was decent and we were pleased. Had the wagyu porterhouse which was cut at the table for $75. I must say that as far as flavor is concerned, the steak did not measure up. It was mostly flavorless, pretty fatty and made acceptable by the addition of sauces. Also rather bland were the Yukon puree potatoes. We ordered cauliflower which was burnt when we received it and very bland. I think for the taste and certainly the money, you can't go wrong with Flemings. Cut lightened my wallet by $400 bucks and left me wondering if I did so for only the wine. Cut is in a good location at the Beverly Wilshire and had great people-watching. I only advise that you think twice before thinking this is the best steak you care to drop your dough on.
Avoid at all cost.
My wife made us reservations for my birthday this past Friday. We live in Thousand Oaks so the commute is a hike for us.
We were ~ 20 minutes late for our reservations, which we did call twice to tell them we were caught in typical LA Friday101 traffic.
We arrived at the restaurant and walked up to the hostess stand and with out looking at us are told we are to late.
I said I understand - I explained that we called and it was my brithday and we live in thousand oaks, and I was told by the BLOND WOMEN standing at the hostess stand NOT WANTING to LOOK ME IN THE EYE tell me how that was to bad.
I looked inside and told her wait a minute your place is 3/4 empty what is the problem? She then told us there was nothing she could do. I then told her look I really am not lieing to you here is my drivers license. I could feel the sadness coming from my wife who was getting really upset because she had planned the evening for me.
CUT DOES NOT MAKE THE CUT!!!
In the end everything works out for the best though.
My wife had also purchased tickets to the DALI show at LACMA so we drove down toward LACMA. We stopped by a spot named TART and had dinner there.
After looking at the prices at CUT and at TART I would say I saved around $200+. Ended up having great simple food and wonderul service.
We ended up seeing GREAT ART that night and had a blast depsite the NAZZZI type treatment we received at CUT.
