Worst service in LA.. The food's good, though misleading. The "guilt free" fried chicken salad is made with less breading, but still fried. I can make my own baked fried chicken for considerably less calories, but still, theirs is delicious. However, the horrendous service I have received on numerous occasions finally lead me to stop going there. I called in an order for 2 guilt free fried chicken salads, and went to pick them up 15 minutes later, as instructed. When I got there, the girl behind the counter (the only one working) gave me the wrong salads and when I told her that, she said, "Are you sure?" and I said yes, and she asked if I had talked to her, and I said I called in 15 minutes ago, so whoever answered the phone, and she said yes, that was me. So they said they'd remake them. I went and sat and read the onion while I waited, and 15 minutes later she walked by and noticed me there and said "Oh! You're here! We can either make you the new salads or give you the old ones for free" and I said no, make me the new salads please. (she had walked by me 3 times already. and it's not like i was hidden behind a plant or anything, I was sitting in th eopen) I waited ANOTHER 15 minutes while they made them, then she charged me for them, and i walked back to my car....only to realize that she didn't include the dressing. So I had to go BACK to get it. Never once did she apologize. I brought the salad to my friend, told him the story, and he said he'd had the same problem. No matter how good the food is, it's not worth the headache.

never again. I've been going to Mason Jar for over a year for bruch. Initally, the great food and fresh squeezed apple juice made up for the lousy service, but the food continues to slide downhill, they no longer serve fresh apple juice, they no longer offer soy cheese, and service is still lousy. The breakfast food all has a sheen from the extravagant use of oil in all their cooking. This place is not for the health conscoius or people who prefer their service prompt and friendly.

Citysearch Editorial Review. Chatty owner Mason is often on-hand to greet diners at this bite-sized eatery creating a friendly neighborhood vibe. A health-centric menu filled with mostly organic and homegrown fare features starters such as mixed green salads, crab cakes and daily-changing soups. Popular entrees are macaroni and cheese, free-range, skinless, fried chicken and slow-roasted beef. Among the many vegetarian selections are hot-pressed, grilled veggie sandwiches and Parmesan herb-crusted tofu; the menu provides notes like "vegan," "high protein" and "good fat."

Great Place for breakfast. I have been here several times and the food and staff are wonderful. Try the fresh squeezed carrot and celery juice and the Texan breakfast. The best scrambled eggs I have ever tried. Mason and his staff are awesome and you are made to feel like you are part of the family.

Not your ordinary cafe. Where do you go when you just want a good meal in west hollywood without paying a fortune and waiting forever. MASON JAR CAFE. The food rocks, the service was perfect and I actually had fun people watching. Mason was both charming and quite helpful. Everybody there makes you feel like a part of the family the moment you walk in. From vegan to pure meat the menu is fantastic. Simple food done perfectly. You have to try the Smiling monkey. Enjoy.

I guess you cant please EVERYBODY. I read all of the reviews and had to see it for my self. The food was really quite fabulous and mason himself was a true owner. He and his partner make the place feel like home. The service is better than excellent. I watched the interaction for quite a while and i just have to say that no matter how nice you are IE: mason and staff, you just cant make some people happy. This is definatly a neighborhood cafe where you are treated like family. I noticed the ocassional rude customer and mason really defends his staff, in short the place, the food, and the service are wonderful. Perhaps other reviewers should treat people as they would like to be treated. I guess you cant please everybody.

Turkey Melt for President!!!. I don't eat out much. Being a working student, I have to watch where my money goes. Thats why the Mason Jar has been such a bad influence on me. Even though the prices are very reasonable (6 or 7 bucks for a sandwich or press, 8 or 9 bucks for a huge salad), I find that I can't help but eat there at least 4 or 5 times a week. I recommend the turkey melt, or the fried chicken salad. The staff is what really makes me come back though. Everyone is funny, helpful and they all know me now by name. It's like that bar on "Cheers"... but better!!

Terrible Food:Obnoxious Owner. Could be one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The owner was extremely cocky, arrogant, and obnoxious. The food was even worse. Overpriced and terrible. I don't know what happened. I ate hear when the place was first opened and the idea was more of a healthy cafe. The food was excellent then. They must have new chefs or something?

where carnivores bring their vegan friends. The Mason Jar Cafe is an awesome little restaurant. I love the BA Burger and the Vegan Grilled Vegetable pressed sandwich, oh and the Sunday Brunch specials rock. The owners are great, Mason is a doll; and the staff is excellent. I also like the fact that they support the arts and provide a venue for up-and-coming artists. It is such a homey and comfortable place, which is difficult to find in West Hollywood, or anywhere for that matter.
