In Short – This rooftop has everything to show for its recent $4 million redesign: A proper restaurant with its own chef de cuisine, a singular menu independent of The Belvedere downstairs, a full bar of countless specialty cocktails, and of course, an envious poolside scene. But these 90210 hotel staples notwithstanding, what will draw guests back to this classic haven are the small gestures. Guests lounge on sleek Janus et Cie furniture custom-made for the rooftop space while a vertical garden wall cleverly separates the bar and restaurant from the hotel-guests-only pool deck. And…

everyone was so friendly! i have the mentality of if people are too nice, there's a big downfall... and i thought the food would be their big downfall, but I SURE WAS WRONG!!!
- Pros: Example: best croissants in town
- Cons: What are the drawbacks?
relaxing and beautiful breakfast

i went to have breakfast there today and loved every minute of it. the space is so pretty now since the renovation (not that it wasn't nice before). it was really sunny outside but the huge umbrellas covered me but let just enough sun in to warm it up since it was really breezy. i had the waffle with fruit and cream, some grilled veggies and one of the best cappuccinos and they were all really yummy, simple but good. the service was great, everyone was really nice and welcoming. the main chef that was there (Lincoln) even came out to say hello and ask how everything was, which i thought was nice since you don't get that at many places. overall, i have to say i had a fantastic time :o)
- Pros: great food, service, awesome location/ambience
The Details on The Roof Garden
Know Before You Go:
If you're not a hotel guest, forget about taking a dip in the pool. Even then, it costs $250 a day to rent one of the 12 precious cabanas.
What to Drink:
The speckled jalapeno margarita is served on the rocks and with a definite kick. The pomegranate mojito has a clean, distinctive taste of mint without any of the residue.
Parking:
Meters abound in the neighborhood, especially during evenings. Valet is $8 for first two hours and $2 for every 30 minutes afterward with validation.
When to Go:
The closest you'll get to a bargain (a dirty word for some guests) at The Peninsula is a prix fixe three-course barbeque every weekend for $55. Begin with three varieties of salads, watch your entree being prepared on the outdoor grill, and enjoy dessert overlooking Beverly Hills. Served from 4pm to 9pm on weekends.
