Editorial Review for Renaissance Montura Hotel Los Angeles – by Gayot.com

The Scene
Surrounded by scores of business and airport hotels, this property defies the generic offerings typical of its unimaginative neighborhood with an exterior reminiscent of an updated, albeit rather corporate-looking, French manor. The interior, too, defies stereotype, being much more lavish than you would expect in an airport hotel. This is one of LAX's nicest accommodations. It's no wonder that flight attendants revere it.

The Details
Guest rooms feature spacious layouts and comfortable, business-friendly interiors that have some interesting views of approaching jumbo jets. There is a business center with wireless kiosks. The lobby, which mixes French and contemporary California styles, is bustling almost 24-hours a day, so no matter what clock you're on, chances are you won't feel lonesome in the cocktail lounge.

I generally don't like staying too near the airport, but I now make it a point to stay at the Renaissance Montura when I am in Los Angeles (usually a couple of times a month). The staff is exceptionally courteous and helpful and will go out of their way to accomodate their guests, whether you request early check-in, message service, extra towels..you name it, if they can, they will do it. The bar is a wondeful, relaxing place, also with great staff. It doesn't have the hotel bar atmosphere one expects. The restaurant is also exceptional, though a bit on the pricey side. Room service is also a bit steep, but service is excellent and much quicker than in many hotels. There is not a bad room in the place. Even the deluxe rooms are well-appointed and the beds are some of the most comfortable I have ever encountered. The only issue I had was that the high-speed internet in the rooms isn't really as high-speed as I would like, but the internet connections in the Business Center in the lobby are lightening-fast (and at 49 cents per minute, should be). Parking is also a bit steep, as on my last stay, Valet was $23.00 a day (with in and out privileges), but well worth it, as they are fast and efficient. Though close to the airport, you do not really notice the noise, which is actually unusual for a hotel so close. Though not within walking distance, there are numerous great places to dine within a short driving distance. The only thing within walking distance is Burger King. Overall, I highly recommend the Renaissance Montura. The staff alone makes you want to come back.

Pros: GREAT STAFF, COMFORTABLE AND LUXURIOUS

Cons: TV service iffy, room service very expensive.

I've sayed here for 9 weeks straight for work now. If you're working near LAX, it's great. The rooms are pretty nice (don't expect a nice view), I'd say better than average but nothing too special. The place looks average at best from the outside, but the restaurant downstairs is nice and the service is good. The parking passes they use are weird - you have to keep one in your car, and give it to an attendant every time you leave, along with another pass you get each time you enter. The club level offers a nice continental 'plus' breakfast and food throughout the day. You have access to it if you are a 'preferred' Marriott member. If you're looking for a hotel for a vacation, this might not be it - unless you're visiting people in Marina Del Rey or near the airport. It's more for business.

Pros: Club Room, Nice Service, Proximity to airport

Cons: Room views
