friendly wait staff, good chicagostyle pizza, wonderful diner food, great neighborhood place, good fab service, very attentive owners, friendly servers

Popular and affordable bakery and eatery in Echo Park. You'll see everyone from hipsters to young families. Deep dish pizza is a big draw, but be forewarned, it takes about 40 minutes. There's a limited beer and wine menu.

Very popular pizza joint in Echo Park. Always busy, kid friendly. And the pizzas are quite tasty.

So yes, the deep dish is worth the (long 40 minute wait). Here's a tip if there's a wait for a table and you want pizza: order with the hostess and the pizza comes to your table way sooner than placing it table side.

Masa is homey, quirky and fun. They have an awesome Chicago deep dish pizza that is worth the 45 min wait. End your meal with their croissant bread pudding, you'll thank me afterwards. A lotta food for little $.

Three words: deep dish pizza. Salads and entrees are average, but Chicago-style pizza is the real deal. Call ahead—it’s takes a half hour.
Rude or Racist?.
The owners of this place treat people with outrageous disrespect. A black friend and I went to Masa for desert just before they closed the restaurant.
We ate, paid the bill and then out of nowhere this guy we thought was a busboy approached our table and started yanking dishes away. I told him I’m finishing the water. He yanked the cup from the table, identified himself as the owner, Rob Rowe, and told us we don’t have to return if we don’t like it.
He didn’t treat the table of white patrons with the same disrespect, which made us think – “wow, that was really racist.” Masa ownership and management may be able to hide their disdain in other occasions but when it’s closing time, watch out.
Had the worst experience at a restaurant we've ever had. We stopped by this place on our way to The Echo and literally had the worst experience we've ever had at a restaurant due to an extremely rude waitress and an equally rude owner that made no moves to remedy the situation after we tried to talk to him about our concerns. They simply don't care about customer service. We were told to "Go back to where ever you came from, leave, and we don't need for you to come back." At this point I used a very descriptive word for the waitress and I regret that I let them drag me to their level but I was literally in shock at their attitudes. When I walked away the owner said "Have a nice life". It was then that I realized they must just enjoy being able to get away with humiliating customers or have insurmountable problems with the business. The country is falling apart, there's one disater after another, and people are out there sacrificing their lives for our freedoms so why can't we just all take a deep breath and treat each other with loving kindness? Is good customer service too much to ask?
Better Company Sitting Than Working. The workers are all pretentious and as soon as you finally sit who knows how long it will be till you are given any attention by your server or anyone who works there. I understand its got great food and drinks and i love the vibe, but come on i need a glass of water and a menu... is that so much to ask for in a freakin Cafe?
L.A. Times. I ate several times at masa because the cuban sandwhich and pizza were good but the service was extremely poor. The owners were very rude to me and to the staff. Part of the problem may be there is to many owners working there. To many chiefs and not enough indians. Workers were rush to work faster because I even heard them screming to employess I cant eat some where when they treat people that way. That is why staff changes so often there I believe.
la masa. great great great staff. wonderful neighborhood place. eat there A LOT.
over priced and not worth it. While the food is ok here, I stopped going after an unreal encounter with a very rude member of the staff here. There are better restaurants more deserving of my money than Masa which is over rated and way too expensive for what you get. Like spending $30 on a pizza? Than this is your kind of place. You can get better pizza fir cheaper at actual gourmet restaurants such as Mozza to Go. I say skip Masa and head to Mozza if you are going to pay that kind of money.
Don't go here because "we don't do that here".
My Masa experience was very poor! I will never eat there again! The service was snotty and very mean about how the FACT that they do not make any special requests or substitutions for people with special needs in their diet. For example, I ordered a salad and requested the cheese on the side ( I am lactose/glutten intolerant + was sharing it with a friend who loves cheese). The waiter rudely and strongly expressed , "We don't do that". However, they would be willing to remove the cheese from the salad. I don't understand why they would be able to remove the cheese BUT not be able to put it on the side. Secondly, he said that all the salads are pre-made. He was very insistant that they could not make any modifications to any of the plates to accomodate my special diet needs. He was rude, cold, and did not care about the customer's needs or experience there. He did not even take the time help me find something on the menu that suited my diet. I ate the salad and picked out the cheese chunks. I also asked to add chicken to the salad (like all restaurants offer) and he, again, denied my request saying "NO".
I will never eat there again NOR recommend it to friend's in the silverlake Losfeliz Echo Park area.
