…
Oh BOA, I had such high hopes for you
since I've been brainwashed by TMZ that you're crawling with celebs. Maybe I would've been more satisfied if I came in without any expectations----yeah, on further thought, I'd probably still be unimpressed.
Don't get me wrong. They have amazing service. You're warmly greeted by, not one but TWO, ladies at the entrance, and you're escorted to your table where the waiter assists you in a very timely manner. My only complaint is that our waiter kinda left us to ourselves after a while without giving us a glance, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he was preoccupied with the extra couple of tables. We came for an occasion, and they gave us sparklers and a dessert, so I'll try to overlook the lack of attention. Again, good service!
Parking = valet $10, but there's limited street parking avail also (key word: limited).
They have both an indoor and outdoor dining area. Outdoor is well heated when necessary, which I greatly appreciated. It can be a very casual or dressy place. Some people wear t-shirt and jeans and some are in dresses. I suppose it depends on the day and time you go.
The food isn't BAD. It's definitely better than Denny's or...I don't know, a buffet of some sort. I read somewhere in these reviews about how their steak was overcooked. SAME THING HERE. When we brought it to the waiter's attention, he said that's how it's supposed to be. I've never had a medium steak that was barely pink in the center, and I've never seen a medium rare steak that wasn't bleeding at all. Must be some new thing they're doing over at BOA. Although, the table next to us ordered medium rare, and theirs looked awesome. Different chefs maybe? I mean, it's good steak--if you like it well done. They have a variety of rubs and sauces you can pair with your steak, so I thought that was fun.
I'm not giving it four stars because I think I should feel wowed, and I'm not---but it's not a horrible place. I just think the food isn't worth the price I'm paying if you can't even get the basics of meat temperature down. In summary: good service, ok food, and good atmosphere.
In a Word: Excellent. I love a good steak. Dry aged is my favorite. I like the piece to be thick and served rare. No nonsense with sauces etc. This place delivers and it always has. I love the ambience of the new locale. And the meat tastes just perfect. So they have a great steak, great atmosphere and great service. You cannot go wrong!
New Location, same great test. I haven't been here since it's location change, but I really dig the new BOA. It may be a tad pricey, but if you're looking for a classic steak-house meets hollywood, check this spot out
Pricey but worth it..... If you want a good steak then you can't go wrong at Boa. They have incredible specials and the prime rib is unbelievable. Only problem is its a bit spendy but can you really put a price on excellence? Decor is nice and service for me has been excellent. Great spot for a date.
Horrible, Stuck Up Hostesses.
ok, so we get to the restaurant at 7pm on a Tuesday. We “thought” that’s what time our reservations were, as my husband’s secretary made the reservations. Apparently, she made them at 6:30pm and we were not made aware of this.
We told the hostess we had 7pm reservations, and she replied, "NO, they were at 6:30pm, and no one showed!". We replied by saying we were very sorry and it was a mistake on our secretary's behalf. We asked how long the wait was. She replied, "We have NOTHING til 9:30pm". We looked around, and the place was LITERALLY 1/2 EMPTY! She told us we can sit at the lounge and have dinner.
I'm sorry...I'm not about to sit at a lounge and have a steak almost bending over on a lounge area with low couches & low tables.
My husband & I looked at each other & walked right out.
I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN BECAUSE OF HER!
Best steaks in LA. If you want a good steak then you can't go wrong at Boa. Only problem is its a bit spendy but can you really put a price on excellence?
The Best Staff. I live not to far from the La BOA. i took my friend who was wearing nice short to eat. we checked to see if it was ok before we let them park the car. as we were waiting for our table they told us we could not eat there. i would never recommend that place. i called BOA Santa Monica and ask if shorts were ok they said no problem. we drove over and the lady held a table for me so he could get severed right away. The food was amazing.. along with the staff.
Fantastic food and service. We had a fantastic meal- the food was all wonderful (especially the foie gras and the goat cheese baklava!!). But the overall dining experience was what topped off the night. We had great recommendations from Scott and Jonathan on everything from wine to oysters.
Where Santa Monica's power diners head for seaside steaks.. Unlike its original location in Hollywood and its flashier sister in Vegas, this sceney steakhouse has one thing the others don't--a seaside view. Situated on the corner of Ocean Avenue and 2nd Street, this is where serious carnivores (read: well-heeled businessmen) converge for substantial steaks--everything from Japanese Wagyu to organic New York strip--and potent drinks (the cocktails and wine list won't disappoint ). The anterior bar/lounge area is a popular spot for after-work profesh types while the main dining room keeps it urban-casual with leather booths, red lantern-like ceiling lamps and towering branch sculptures. As for those who prefer surf to turf, don't worry--there are plenty of seafood options like Atlantic salmon, John Dory and fresh catches of the day.
Scrumptious Steaks!. BOA has got to be by far one of my favorite places to Dine. I love it all, from the food, drinks, Atmosphere, everything. The employees are very knowledgeable about the food and Wine selections, not to mention friendly and attentive. Definitely a great place everyone should check out at least once, its the perfect place to grab a cocktail w/friends and or a date.
