great other food, great service, terrible mediocre food, great restaurant experience, great place, great drinks, worst wait staff
The food is delicious and the waiters are very welcoming. It has an elegant ambiance that makes you feel relaxed and happy. This is my favorite restaurant in the city.
One of the West Side's best.. I visit this place often for lunch. I have never been disappointed. Good food and consistently good service. A bit pricey.
Wilshire Restaurant: Bottle Service ONLY.
NOTE: Review is for Bottle Service
We ended up booking the Wilshire for my friend's going away a month back. We were promised a $750 minimum on the suite - alcohol included - the suite around 10, to 10:30 p.m. VIP passes (no cover/no waiting in line), and 40 people on guest list (no cover before 10:30, but no waiting required at all after wards).
When we got there, not only did we end up getting the suite more than an hour later than discussed - 11:45 p.m. after dinner guests whom we were not informed of earlier had left the venue - our guest list apparently closed at 10:30 p.m., meaning all of our 30+ guests who showed up after 10:30 that were INCLUDED on our guest list had to pay cover AND stand in the ridiculous Wilshire Saturday night line.
Also, as we had started our $750 tab at the bar due to getting our actual venue later than planned, our total bill came out to 1.5 times more than expected as they had split our tabs into two - one at the bar we started at and one at our bottle service area - which again, was against our requests of ensuring we did not order above a $750 minimum alcohol purchase (although we did get a comp'd bottle because of our late start - which was generous).
All in all, we had an amazing time only because of the group of people who had joined our party, and not because of the dissatisfying service we received from the GM's/staff/restaraunt overall that night.
This is a great place if your purpose is to join friends for a couple cocktails on a Saturday night, but I would recommend skipping out on this venue if your goal is to reserve it for a party, bottle service included.
Terrible service and mediocre food. Made a reservation using opentable and Wilshire called me to confirm the reservation so I was a bit surprised by the 30+ minute wait for my table. We were finally seated and all 4 chairs were so wobbly we all thought they would fall apart (seriously). Our server was terrible. None of us understood one word he said in his opening comments. He was miserable. If you are going to serve up a bunch of attitude and bad service you better have some seriously good food. Unfortunately the food at Wilshire is mediocre at best and not worth mentioning. With so many options for truly good food and good service there is no reason to ever return to Wilshire.
Great outdoor spot!. I love this place! This is an awesome spot to sit outside and they have amazing food.
Great selection of food and drinks. I came here last week to watch the Lakers game for Happy Hour. Not only did I have great service, but the food was delicious!!!! I would recommend the blue cheese burger if you are looking for something flavorful and filling and to drink I would recommend their margarita! Yum.
Hey, its so great to see that you had a good time...come on by tonight for the game! first drink will be on me.

Okay but lots of upcharges.
The ambiance is great and the food was very good (for the most part) at Wilshire. The pricing policies are ridiculous, though. Do they know there's a recession and they should be doing everything in their power to get us to come back?
1st case in point: Martinis were good, but they're $11-14 each, plus a $3 charge if you want a martini glass!! Huh? When was the last time you ordered a martini and it didn't come in a martini glass???
2nd point: We also brought our own bottle of wine, plus ordered a $50 bottle from the wine list (one of the cheapest bottles, actually). According to the wine list, corkage fees are waived if you order wine from the wine list. Unfortunately, after we gave the waitress our credit cards, we noticed we got charged a $20 corkage fee.
We asked the manager about these issues. His response: too bad for us. If we come back, maybe he'd give us some sort of discount. I'm not going to hold my breath.
Regarding the food, most of it was very good. Pear salad - okay. Gnocchi -- good but a little bland. One duck potpie had no duck in it (waiter's response: too bad, it happens sometimes), but the others were excellent. Moroccan lamb stew was very good, but the side garnished didn't really work with the stew. The apple tart was just mediocre. The espresso float with cinnamon donuts was AMAZING.
Will we go back? No way. Too many other great restaurants in LA with better service and pricing.
Unfortunate. Genuinely Lackluster. Wilshire was a better restaurant when it opened!!! In just a few years it has gone from progressive to downright precocious. Absolutely no maturity coming out of the Kitchen let alone the Front of the House. One of the worst wait staffs occupying the entire Westside, which is a massive statement. For a restaurant which prides itself on healthy, sustainable food, the energy at the Wilshire is completely inorganic and often unsettling. Many better choices for a nice night out then his overpriced, overdone, and under achieving Santa Monica newbie.
Great place for lunch, dinner, drinks, any time!. I have been to the Wilshire a few times and have only had great experiences there. The food is fantastic, and the drinks are delicious! The atmosphere is also awesome - there is a small indoor bar, an indoor restaurant, an outdoor restaurant, and a hidden back patio with it's own bar. So whether you want to be inside, outside, with a lot of people, in a quiet area... you can find it here! My only con is it's overpriced. Don't be surprised if dinner for one costs you close to $100. We went out as a group and split the bill, and it came out to almost $100 each. But, I was very happy with my meal and the service, so I was not too bitter about it.
