What People Are Saying About The Auld Dubliner

In Short – Located in Long Beach's waterfront dining and shopping hub, this restaurant-bar combo adds a contemporary twist to the small village pub. Dark wood furniture imported from Ireland, old-time memorabilia and Irish-tuned satellite radio bring authenticity to a clean, modern design. Weekday office-types relax with sports TV and requisite Guinness pints in booths, while 20-something weekend crowds sprawl onto the street-front patio to take down Irish whiskeys. The full menu boasts stews, bangers and boxties alongside salads and hamburgers.

  1. After a trip to Ireland, it's nice to finally find a nice spot that provides the same friendly atmosphere, food and drink as the pubs of the Emerald Isle.
  2. It gets crowded, but the atmosphere is such that usually bumping into people just makes for more interesting conversation.
  3. On certain nights the place gets quite busy, but you can always find a cozy corner to hang out away from the crowd, or join the locals outside.
  4. The place did did get packed quite a bit, but the band played music that was fun to dance to, the crowd was great and the bartenders were really nice.

  6. After trying different bars and restaurants in Long Beach, my friends and I just went to this pub last Saturday and the atmosphere was awesome!

Best Pub on the West Coast

by brianm24

I stumbled upon this pub when I first moved to the area, the staff was extremely friendly and inviting. I tried the food and just about everything I've tried has been delicious. They have live music on most nights which draw a good crowd, especially on the weekends so get thee early! Fun place to go to meet people, and they have a great Happy Hour.

  • Pros: Great Food and Perfect Pints, very Friendly Staff
  • Cons: Gets Crowded, so go early!

Great for music, Not so good for the after work crowd

by bugs4554

Well, the Dubliner started off to be a GREAT place to go, the food and atmospher was worth the wait but times have changed. Not only is there menu heading torwards the mainstream (doing away with the Yorkshire Pudding and adding Corn Beef Taco's???, oh please), the service just isn't good enough for an ordinary menu. I see how they have just added some new salads, Cobb, Asian Chicken, and Seared Ahi. All these are good salads but hardly works in an Irish pub. Maybe they could consider bringing back the Roast Beef Salad with Horseradish mayo, that was a great salad and fit the theme.

  • Pros: Music
  • Cons: Menu, Service

Great Time, Every Time!

by GoldFox

I LOVE this place! ...When I need a break from the second street crowd I can always count on the Auld Dubliner for some great live music and a lively crowd! This bar goes off on weekends, so it may take you a minute to get a drink. Be patient, I have never seen these bartenders slacking off if a thirsty customer is in sight. The layout of the bar is great, more than enough room even on the most crowded nights- unless you want a spot on the patio or right next to the bar.

Warning to the ladies... You will most likely need to park in the parking structure and walk if you come on a Friday or Saturday night. So don't wear uncomfortable shoes!! Also, this place is super low key, so but don't dress like you're going to a club or you will sick out like a sore thumb.

**The door guy will validate your parking!!**

  • Pros: excellent floor plan, great live bands, awesome bartenders
  • Cons: parking =(
