Unfriendly to Children – Our family enjoys Asian food and my children (11 and 12 -- not babies) have been so eager to eat at Irori and experience the fun tables. We have tried to come before and the wait was too long. We arrived at about 6:00 on a Saturday night; the place was empty and yet they asked us to return in 30 minutes. When we did so, we waited another 15 and were treated poorly. Although my kids are extremely well behaved, we felt like we were being rushed in favor of other clients received poor service from the wait-staff (had to ask for wasabi for the sushi (!)). I don't know what the "buzz" is. The food seemed just OK...chicken teriyaki was fatty, salads had way too much dressing but the beef (steak) teriyaki was very tender and good, though pricy. We did like the sushi, but were disappointed that there was no low-sodium soy sauce. Also, as if to prove this point, the next morning we all woke with that salty feeling in our mouths and feel bloated. We will not return here; the service, treatment and food was a definite let-down.
Yummy Yummy – My boyfriend and I love going to Irori, we try to go at least every other week. Great Sushi, fresh fish and friendly and attentive staff. Even though we go for the sashimi I always find myself ordering a chicken udon. So if your not a sushi fan the teriyaki and udon are also great.A little pricey but definately worth the price. The ambiance is great. Don't be surprised if Bob Marley is playing over the speakers. And don't be scared to take off your shoes it just adds to the experience.
freshest sushi in los angeles – Irori serves the best sushi we have found in LA. My husband and I are crazy for sushi and always searching for a place that offers truly fresh sushi in a clean, fun environment. If you lean toward simple sushi and sashimi vs. rolls filled with mayo/sauces, you know how important getting a fresh, good cut of fish is. Irori delivers time and time again. We go every Friday night and every trip is as delectable as the last. Also, a super friendly, professional wait staff and team of sushi chefs see to it that you feel welcome, are well taken care of, and have a great time.
An ancient Japanese hearth inspires a seating plan and modern hospitality at this Marina Del Ray sushi bar. – In Short
An easily adaptable beach crowd sits cross-legged on silk pillows propped on a wooden floor surrounding a traditional fire place embedded in the floor. Miniature dark wood tables seem less daunting surrounded by splashes of color on the light green walls and cloud-painted ceiling panels. Standard rolls keep sushi chefs busy. Servers will suggest freshest catches and sashimi adventurers, or chicken, beef and salmon teriyaki to the less experimental. Sunomono, a Japanese noodle and cucumber salad, can also be enhanced with octopus, shrimp or crab.
Amazing Sushi – The place has authentic vibe and the sushi was amazing. But I have to say the best part was the sushi chef. He was friendly, very knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations.
A Gem!!! – My husband and I have been searching high and low for a sushi bar with fun chefs and consistently good quality fish. Our search ended at Irori. Great quality fish, nice intimate setting with tatami style seating. Prices aren't cheap, but they aren't outrageuosly expensive. Hey, you can't expect to get good quality fish at conveyor belt prices.
Excellent sushi for very good prices – I almost don't want to recommend Irori because I want to keep it a hidden treasure. However, it's a great restaurant and the people who work there are incredibly nice. It's stylish and elegant; a traditional interior where you sit into the floor, even at the sushi bar. The waitstaff is friendly and very attentive. The sushi is awesome! If you love sushi, sit at the sushi bar and get to know the chefs. Shige, Masa - you guys are great. Lots of other locals keep coming back. If you don't love sushi, choose from anything else on the menu.
Best Sushi Ever for the money – Ask for the Spicy Tekadon. What you see on the menu is the Sushi Techadon. Spicy techadon will get you that spicy tuna upgrade to die for! And if you are not completely blown away by this, try any special. They;re all so good.
Everytime we go wtehre we pick a new special, sushi tekadon (comes with salad and soup) and we top it with my favorite desert ever!!!!! The Grean Tea Tempura Ice Cream! Can't have enough of this!
I would love the place to be in a nicer setting, but i think its hidden strip mall location makes it less crowded.
can you say yum? – this place has something for everyone. if you have sweet tooth or a spicy palette, they'll have a dish for you. if you come, be prepared to take off your shoes. ...no smelly feet allowed.
My weekly romp – I go to Irori all the time. The food is awesome ( try the sashimi news) and I am a food critic. I'm fat and I know good food.
All the waitresses are hot and I have a crush on Sarah. Yuki and Shige are my homies too.
