Good, but not great

This place is quite good, and well above average, but not worth driving from Santa Monica, Hollywood, or West LA to try. If you live in the South Bay give it a try. The reason I only give this place a recommended is because there is SO much competition for ice cream in the beach cities. Manhattan Beach creamery, Manhattan Beach Gelato, and best of all, Crema Dolce in the Riviera Village of South Redondo are better in my opinion. After those places, the ice cream shop on the end of pier ave in hermosa beach comes next. Not only are all of these ice cream places in very nice beach downtown areas, but the selection at these places are better than lickity splits. Anywhere else, and I would give this place a highly recommended, but it should be 5th on your list in the south bay. As people have said, frozen custard is far better than baskin robins ice cream, but super fresh ice cream made with natural ingredients, more flavors, and mix ins is better than frozen custard in my opinion. lickty split has about 10 flavors with nothing mixed in while Creme dolce has 36 flavors of sorbet, gelato, and extremely fresh ice cream. Still, lickity split is quite good and worth a try if you dont have time to make it to the beach.

Good, but certainly not #1

After reading about Lickity Split being the best ice cream in LA I made a little side trip there while in Manhattan Beach. Was it good? Sure. Was it the best ice cream in LA? Hardly. Would I buy it again if I happened to be by one of their shops? Sure. Would I go out of my way again to visit one of their shops? No. It's not that good.

In Search of the best Ice Cream

Or should I say custard. This place has very good custard. They let you taste any flavor you want before buying. Nice atmosphere and quiet. The custard does not soften up like ice cream. Smooth taste and you can also buy by the pint. Please try it out and see for yourself. I highly recommend this place.
