Yummy Indian in Silver Lake. This used to be my go-to spot when I lived closer to the Eastside -- I even got a tour of the kitchen from the very proud owner who showed us how they make naan (it's vigorously thrown across some big contraption). The lassi is luscious (altho it can sometimes be a bit too tangy) and the saag paneer is delightfully presented with coriander atop its green freshness. The makhni is good as is the garlic naan. The place is usually emptier than it should be -- you'd think with food this good more folks would know about it, but maybe its location w/in a cruddy strip mall is off-putting.

It's no scene, all food at this low-key Indian alcove in Silver Lake.. In Short
This easy-to-miss nook is tucked inside a rundown Silver Lake strip mall just around the bend from popular Mexi-hangout El Chavo. Low lighting, wood tables, pleather booths and fiber-optic wall hangings set the scene for the casual couples and non-trendoids filling up on fresh, affordable North Indian fare. Service is swift as it's usually not jammed and the signature Balti dishes--curry-like stews of vegetables and meat--arrive bubbling hot in a pot.

Vegetarian review: Best Indian restaurant. I've been to many Indian restaurants in LA (mostly in the Westside) and I have to say that for authentic Indian, Agra has been the best. After moving to the area I first went to Tantra and while the food was good, there weren't the dishes I had expected to find. I have to say that I feel lucky to have found Agra and have been comparing all Indian food I've eaten since to Agra's. I was worried the first few times I went because the place was empty. It wasn't a good sign but I couldn't deny that the food was very good. As a vegetarian, I can't speak for any of the meat dishes but the vegetarian dishes are all very well prepared. I would especially recommend any of the spinach or potato dishes. The bhindi masala is tops. The vegetable biriyani is excellent and the naan is perfectly baked/toasted. I agree with the other poster that it has the feel of an Indian restaurant in the UK having lived there.

Great Indian food. I have tried close to 50 Indian restaurants in Los Angeles are and I have to say Agra is definitely in top 5. I have always had lunch here and it has always been very tasty. The portions are just perfect, not too less, not a lot. The neighbourhood is not so great. Amience could use improvements but food quality and taste are excellent.

Yes, it's that good!. Heard alot about this place and decided to try it out, couldn't be more happier. It was a nice Thursday evening on November 16, 2006 (located just off the leg of Silver Lake - an up and coming trend spot) the restaurant was quiet and spacious, we were the first couple there and not too long after, two more tables were filled.

They immediately bought us the Papadums along with their variety of delicious chutneys. For starters, we called for Samosas, small in size with a soft thin crispy crust but amazingly delicious. For the main course, we ordered Potato Curry, Garlic Naan, plain aromatic rice and despite the many extra and "rare" curry dishes offered on their menu, I custom ordered my usual "Shrimp Bhuna" curry that wasn't listed and the result was beyond my expectations - a thick, rich flavored curry based swamped over giant tiger prawns.

We liked the spaciousness of the dining area, the tables are not too close to each other and are enough booths to nestle for a cozy, private dining. The attentiveness of the staff with their prompt service and accommodation had made this an even more delightful dining experience. But overall, we liked the food very much and gave this a 10+!

My Fave Indian Restaurant!!!. This is seriously one of my favorite Indian restaurants. I've tried many around LA and this place is by far the best in the area. The Chicken Tikka Masala is to die for. They also have very good Vindaloos and Baltis. And when you ask for the food to be spicy it'll definitely come back very spicy! I mainly order takeout but have eaten there a few times. The atmosphere at the restaurant is average and they don't serve alcohol there, but the food more than makes up for it. All of my friends who I've told about this place have tried it and have absolutely loved it.

I Love the Lamb Biryani. Although the servers don't seem that friendly, the food is really great. I'm a huge fan of the lamb biryani. (Pardon my spelling.) There is never a wait and the decor is very nice compared to the shopping center it's located in. The prices are very reasonable as well.

Good indian eats. Cheaper, less crowded, more grounded than Lotus or Tantra. More like the Curry houses back home in the UK. Not too salty or sweet - the lunch will fill you up just right.

Glad I discovered this place!. In two weeks I have become a regular at this place. Great Indian food seems hard to find in the east side...at least that is if you're looking for good service and no snooty wait staff. I have loved everything I've tried there. Don't let the location fool you...its in a strip mall, but it's a little piece of heaven.

Hidden gem in Silverlake. Don't let the location fool you. As a displaced New Yorker, I can tell you that this is some of the best indian food in LA. The Ahi Tandoori is delicious for those that don't like red meat, and they do an excellent job with all the standards. Service is very warm and attentive. Highly recommended!
