Editorial Review for Beechwood – by Randi Schmelzer
In Short
Culinary partners Brooke Williamson and Nick Roberts (Amuse Cafe) have transformed the former Cape Cod-inspired Menemsha space. The loft-like dining room features deep orange booths surrounded by woodsy murals, low-backed sofas and wooden-crate tables. The broad menu starts with beluga lentil soup, roasted spaghetti squash gratin and grilled baby octopus. Popular entrees are roasted chicken breast, white salmon with creme fraiche and short rib pot pie. Uncommon, sharable desserts include key lime pound cake and vanilla bean panna cotta.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoWhile the dining room is only open Tuesday through Saturday evenings, the lounge serves seven nights a week. The bar menu features smaller-portioned items like shrimp skewers, grilled lamb meatballs, and three kinds of fries.
Where to SitLively couples and small groups gravitate toward seats around the patio's firepit, or to sofas sprinkled around the candlelit bar area. For a quieter meal, request a table in the back of the spacious, tucked-away dining room.

We went to Beechwood the other night, the service was good. My girlfriend had Snapper and I had the chicken. Both were very good. I like the chicken more, but I ‘m more of a steak and potatoes guy. My girlfriend loved the snapper enough to ask for the recipe. The drinks were fair priced and the cocktail list looked interesting. Overall we will be back to try more.

This is a hard one to write. I once loved Beechwood and would bring anyone there who came into town to visit, but until recent this place has gone from "Great food and service" to "STAY AWAY." I actually signed up for Citysearch just to write this. Something I would normally go to the management to complain about if this weren't specifically about him. I have been a patron of Beechwood since the pulled pork sandwich and Tatiana. (Both should still be there) Until the end of last year I used to walk into the restaurant and was greeted with three beautiful smiles from three ladies (Again, they should still be there, wish I remembered their names. I think one might have been Brooke???) great energy from the bar staff and servers, the music was always right and the food was beyond compare. Now I enter the restaurant and I get a grunt from the lobotomized hostess and a man (assuming he is the new manager) is braiding her hair. Not only is that foul to do in a restaurant, but offensive and downright inappropriate. The new staff is rude and inattentive...the feeling of being at a local joint is now gone. If you guys fired the last staff...BIG MISTAKE...if they quite, I understand. Again, I would have called the restaurant to make a complaint, but it was the managers offense, so the only way to get the message out is by writing. Please, if you are reading this and own Beechwood let's get back to business as usual Venice is waiting.
Pros: The food is great and the restaurant looks cool
Cons: Management and staff are rude and not worth the trip
