Editorial Review for HD Buttercup – by Davida Ross
The Scene
Natural sunlight peers through the skylights in this massive, 100,000-square-foot furniture emporium. Red brick walls and maple floors give an airy, elegant feel to the spacious showroom, where more than 50 manufacturers become retailers, selling their products directly to the public. Owner and creator Evan Cole, former chief executive of New York City's trend-setting ABC Carpet & Home, has one word for this innovative sales strategy: "manu-tailing."
The Goods
Those with an eye for the exotic can admire 19th-century European treasures from Mollen Antiques, then head over to Material Culture to sift through Turkish copper accessories. International manufacturer Jiti sells Indian silk bedding across the floor from Arte Italica's collection of pewter trimmed earthenware. The more traditional shopper can peruse the offerings at Directions, manufacturer for Crate & Barrel, or check out Blu Dot's modern stoage systems.

Insider Tips
Save MoneyMany showroom vendors are manufacturers for major retail stores, so you can find much of the same furniture at reduced prices by cutting out the middleman.
ParkingThere is free parking near the entrance on Helms off of Venice, but you may have to fight for a spot on weekends.
Save TimeAfter a long day of bargain hunting, shoppers can grab a bite to eat at the adjacent Beacon for reasonably priced Pan-Asian fare.

The place offers basically no deals simply because they charge so much money to the vendors in there, that they have to jack up their prices to the hilt to fall back on their feet. Disgruntled sales people, for the most part clueless about the product. Their delivery service is a nightmare... Makes you wonder who manages this place. In a few words... it is a mess.. In an economy the shape of ours you will find plenty of great deals in many other places struggling to stay in business....
