Westside's first zankou!. i was a little skeptical of a zankou with a real parking lot and nicer decor, especially after westsider friends started raving about it -- the same ones who probably would never step foot in the hollywood one! but i have to admit, i'm swayed. the food is good, if not a little garlic butter heavy sometimes. it's a convenient location and nice service.
Tips for Zankou Chicken
Solid Clean Shwarma.
The food is solid and parking is easy. If you like shwarma this is the place. I don't know if I would go with the Rotiserie chicken though. Doesn't have as much flavor as a KooKoo Roo or El Polo Loco. People cooking in the back seem happy, but sometimes you might get a cashier that doesn't seem to excited to have you there.
Anyways, it's a clean and fast Shwarma place so appreciate it because you know how rare they are.
Dirty ovens=dirty Chickens. Ever cooked something in a dirty oven? Thats what this chicken tastes like. The location in Hollywood is totally different.. tastes great. At this place however, they dont seem to clean the old gtease from the rotisseries every night so the old burning grease adds an unpleasant taste to the chickens.. This is not a one time thing.. I have tried this place several times and only once did it taste clean.. It must be part of the tradition but its disgusting..
Garlic, Garlic, Garlic!. There's really not much more I can say about Zankou Chicken that hasn't already been said. They have the most deliciously moist chicken (and crispy chicken skin, mmmm) for a reasonable price and fast service; and when I say fast, you haven't even filled up your soft drink when they're already calling your number. Order a plate and eat there, or get a whole chicken with all the sides and bring it back to your pad for some chicken carnage. I guarantee you wont be disappointed. Oh, and make sure you get EXTRA garlic!
Love this place. They just added kabobs to the menu. They will not dissapoint, but they are cooked to order, so it takes a little bit longer. Love the chicken tarna. If I lived closer to this place, I would eat there everyday.
Love it. As much as I love CCC -- mostly for its chinese chicken salad, zankou's chicken beats all others hands down. The place is awesome. If you're in the mood for some seriously delish chicken for 5 bucks, this is it.
Super Mediocre!. Really over-rated. Tried the chicken and it is good, but the sides are awful. Ambiance is poor and service is just adequate. Reminds me of a Persian version of Jolibees.
delicious garlic butter. More than the chicken itself, I love the garlic butter which you can spread over pita bread (you can buy 6 pieces for $1). The portions are HUGE... I could share a meal with two other people and decently priced. This is the place to go for low-fuss, low-priced food when you want it right away! It's one of my top two chicken spots in LA!

This place and Versailles are teh too best chicken restaurants in town. That is if you're a garlic lover.
Order the Chicken Tarna or teh Hal chicken and it's so good you can't stop eating. The meat shawarma is also good. Great food quality and smiling staff makes this fastfood alternative a must.
