Best Steak Ever
by lalalandlover
The steak at the Shula's at the Sheraton Gateway by LAX was amazing. I've been to a variety of steakhouses, and even worked at one, and nothing has ever come as close to the tenderness and unparalleled quality of the filet at Shula's. I'm normally a small eater, but the filet was so good I ate nearly all of it. The apple cobler was also really tastey with vanilla ice cream. Surprisingly the decor of this Shula's was a lot edgier than expected. My favorite twist was the zebra skin seat in the bar area. Fabulous.
Not The Best Ever

Shula's is good, but there are much better steakhouses in LA. The restaurant was very nice and the service was great, but the food was not the best we ever had. My husband ordered the NY Steak but it was not hot when it got to the table. I ordered the ribs, cooked for 24 hours, and they tasted like it. I don't think they need to cook ribs for 24 hours. It wasn't terrible but if you're looking for a great steak I would suggets Ruth's Chris. I wanted to write here so people will not be dissapointed by reading the other reviews like we were.
- Pros: Near the Airport
- Cons: Food could be better
Great Steak, Good Service, Not the Best Shula's has to offer.

As a proud member of the 48oz. Club, I was VERY disappointed to see that Shula's 347 in LA does not offer the Porterhouse. Hell, the largest menu item is a 22oz. This came as a shock to me and was a MAJOR letdown. Now, most people would say that 22 oz is more than enough for a dinner, but as a bigtime carnivore, anything less than 32 oz. simply is not worth it. My waiter was kind enough to coax the chef into "going downstairs" to find a porterhouse for me- what looked like 36 oz. and cooked it to perfection. See, Shula's does everything right. Their cuts of beef are fantastic, the service is strong and the ambience is not too pretentious and masculine enough. The sides are classic and served to share. My dining partner had the 16 oz. NY which looked very good- he finished it all which is a testament to the piece of meat. My Porterhouse was good/borderline great. Wine list compliments the menu well. The whole "hotel restaurant" vibe is kind of weak, but I guess thats the price you pay to get the Shula name out across the country. I'll be back.
- Pros: Shula Cut, Service, Valet Validation
- Cons: Limited Menu
