A staple in hollywood – WOW, I love this place and have been there a million times
You do have to go on the right nites
And the food is always great
but be careful , ive seen people kicked out of there after a few too many drinks
the drinks are stong, esspecially if you know which bartender to go to
Its just a shame to see that people have to resort to bad mouthing just because they couldn't get in or could not hold their liquor
Not much shelf life left! – DO NOT go to Basque if you want a fine meal. Not sure what the previous reveiwer was talking about. They must have been extremely drunk, because any slop tastes good in that condition. This is another instance where a nightclub attempts to call itself a "restaurant" and falls short. The food is below par, lacks originality, taste and is overpriced. The nightclub staff is very amateur as well. People in LA are a little more discriminating and have plenty of options for nightlife. Not much shelf life left for this club if you ask me. If you want to be surrounded by lame guys wearing sunglasses, and girls who think their hot...but are definitely not. Then this is the place for you.
NEVER had a better Saturday Night in Hollywood – I can't say enough good things about my visit to Basque last night. My buddies and I got to the club around 11 and as we entered we were informed that there was a live band and a fashion show about to begin... interesting, appealing. We made our way through the club to the back where the fashion show was behind held and it was really cool, girls were gorgeous! Anyway, after the show was over the night got really fun. The staff seemed elated to be working, and everyone from the bartender and cocktail waitress that we had serving us to the security that we struck up a convo with was having the times of their lives. The girls from the fashion show came and hung out with us at the back bar and that's when it became a really good situation. The bartender bought the girls a shot and told them my buddies and I had paid for it so that allowed for some conversation with us, that was totally cool of the bartender!! Anyway, the night came to an end and I had never had a Saturday night that I found to be so satisfying, Hollywood is normally a headache for me. So, for anyone looking for a really fun and entertaining Saturday night check out Basque. The club is cool, the people there are good looking and the staff is more then friendly and the complete opposite of the typical jerks that are angry they have to work at these places instead of getting to party on a Saturday night!! A++++++++++
Hip and awesome club – So me and my friends were having a below par night on the town, and we decided to give basque a shot because we had never been there before. It turned out to be one of the most spectacular nights. The crowd is great, the music is awesome, and the best part are the bartenders. Ask for Stephen. He was great to us. He turned our frown upside down. And he's cute :)
My friends and I had the best time! – After reading the last few reviews, it doesn't even sound like I was at the same place! We went last Thursday and had a blast. The music was amazing---we danced all night. I love the big room in the front, so different from other places where smokers are banished outside or in the alley. I will admit, the lines to the bathroom were a little long, but try finding a place in L.A. where they're not! And PS, the food was amazing. It's nice to be able to order your bottle, dance your butt off, and then munch on some quality food all at the same place. Will definitely go back.
Basque is a BUST! – I heard good things about the club but apparently the "vibe" varies depending on the promotor. Below is our experience the Sunday before Memorial Day.
To create a false sense of capacity they have people wait in line even when the interior is empty...DON'T BOTHER WAITING, IT'S A WASTE OF TIME!
By the time we were offered entry we were told the cover was $40 for guys and $20 for ladies. After taking a quick peek inside at the crowd we excused ourselves from the security "pat down" and left for another venue that was worthy of our presence and money.
BASQUE is a BUST
Not So Hot... – the staff at basque do not understand the meaning of "service". they are rude, mean and condescending to paying customers. what a huge turnoff!
Poor choice for a visit – It's startling how poor the service was at this venue and howly bad they are at facilitating even the weakest of entertainment, like a fashion show. If you're planning a big party here, it's hardly worth the effort -- the food is mediocre, the prices are expensive and if you wait too long to use the restroom you'll probably find your chair kidnapped by an overzealous busboy trying to clear the area for dancing. There's definitely beautiful people here, but you can find that at pretty much every other Hollywood hangout worth visiting. Not worth the energy.
It was the best night! My five girlfriends and I had the most amazing time on Thursday night 4/20. Tons of A-listers and a lot of beautiful lookiong people. We started with dinner and drinks, the food was fantastic (We shared several tapas and I had the Filet Mignon Steak Salad) to die for. The chef has talent. The decor is awesome props to the owner for having great taste.
We ate, drank and danced till 2 am! It was Absolutely Amazing!!!
THIS PLACE IS A STAPLE IN HOLLYWOOD – I LOVE BASQUE!!!
AMAZING AMOUNT OF CELEBS
LATE NIGHT APPITIZERS
DEFINATELY GOING BACK
