WORST SERVICE EVER. I will never give the Tower Bar my service again. The food was horrible & the service was embarrassing. Don't waste your time or $$.
Old school Hollywood. One word- Dimitri. Dimitri Dimitrov is the maitre d' at the Tower Bar, and he makes this restaurant what it is. Forget agents, producers and so forth- this is the man who really knows EVERYONE in Hollywood. The Tower Bar is also a great neighborhood spot because, while high profile, it is relaxed and inviting. The food is delicious and the drinks potent. You can have a business meeting here, a romantic date or even meet friends at the bar.
Want a perfect evening out? HERE IT IS!. I recently had the privilege of having lunch at the Terrace Restaurant at the Sunset Tower Hotel. It was a perfect sunny, breezy southern California day...the kind that can ONLY be enjoyed outdoors. I sat there under the awning...captivated by the view...eating the freshest Lobster Cobb Salad EVER...thinking "Does it get any better than this?" Well....it does. Before I left I took a look around at the Tower Bar Restuarant and the Argyle Spa. I filed the sneak peak away in my mind on the "LA To Do List" and waited for the next "special occasion." The occasion arrived...my partner's birthday. We started with the Hammam Steam Bath (we had just been in Istanbul...and had no idea that there was even anything like this in LA). Then we had a phenominal couples massage in the couples suite. The soothing, warm, elegant decor and the expert touch of the therapists...makes the best we've had in LA...and one of if not THE best we've had anywhere in the world. We dressed....left the spa and walked upstairs to The Tower Bar Restuarant . The timing of all this was seamless...and flowed so easily...it was amazing. All relaxed, we were greated by the most hospitable maitre de and staff. The sun was just setting outside and the amber glow of the room agaist the paneled walls set the mood for a very romantic and intimate dinner...and I must confesss a little celebrity watching. The classic Hollywood deco feel and a jazz duo playing at just the right volume...made for a perfect evening. And that is even before the food came out. Everything we had for dinner was prepared to perfection...grilled artichokes...bacon wrapped dates (exotic and decadent) were starters. My partner raved about the Mediterranean Sea bass served with spinach and mushrooms...it looked amazing. I choose something a little more in the comfort food catagory...a very thick cut porkchop with apples and root vegitables. I was comforted. It was awsome. And yes after all of that we even made room for hot molten chocolate cake and ice cream to celebrate my partner's birthday and it came with the very sincere birthday wishes of our server, maitre de and manager. It was the perfect end to the perfect birthday. I say go make a night of it at The Sunset Tower and The Tower Bar Restaurant...oh yes...but don't forget to visit the Terrace for lunch sometime too. Enjoy!
Best views and service in West Hollywood. This was our first visit to the Tower Bar. Both my wife and I were thrilled with the choice we had made. The service and attention to detail was spot on. Our meals were made to perfection. The wine list could not have been better. (They have a great cocktail menu too) After reading all the articles on this restaurant we now know why it?s getting so much press? I would highly recommend the Tower Bar for a special evening because this is what you will get? We can not wait to return.
The "Leaning" (Falling?) Tower on Sunset. When you arrive, it's a nice entrance. The hotel looks private and the dining area feels luxurious. That's about the end of the good stuff. Our waiter was a stuck up, unsmiling, UNFRIENDLY actor wannabe, who was often gone from service for protracted lengths of time. We had to help the wait staff remove appetizer dishes when entrees arrived. There was no timing to the service at all. We even moved our own plates off the table just to get them out of the way. The salmon was NOT fresh and the chicken dish was ridiculously boring. Dessert was nothing exciting. I would never go back. You can get better food for the same price or less in many other places. Save your money and dine elsewhere.
HORRENDOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. SO GONE DOWN HILL!!!! Most HORRIBLE TREATMENT, SERVICE- AND QUITE FRANKLY OVERPRICED- NOT THAT GREAT FOOD EVER!!!! You'd be better off eating across the street at the Saddleranch Lodge!!!!! From the moment you park-until the moment you leave-it is unpleasant. Had it not been for the fact that the three of us were starving...and TOWER WAS THE ONLY PLACE IN TOWN WITH EMPTY TABLES - our first, second and third choices were not available, we settled. Who knew it would turn out to be such a disaster. AWFUL....NEVER TO RETURN!!!!! Funny that after reading other reviews I too had a similar experience with the valet. Clearly they are pocketing the money and we were greatly overcharged and mistreated after spending $400 on a meal. Please be wary of the valets, their management and all of their hidden signs and rules!!!! Not too mention-they are pompous and rude!
great place to bring grandpa. We were the youngest people in there by about 40 years. It seemed more like a geriatric convention than a hip Sunset restaurant. The only thing that took longer then dinner service was our elevator ride back up to our room.
Second time around!. It is sometimes difficult for a restaurant to deliver the goods the second time around. That is usually the test after having a great first experience. Well, the Tower Bar delivers. After raving about the place I decided it was time to go back. My girlfreind and I were greated at the host desk by a lovely hostess who remembered us and actually called us by name. You don't get that kind of attention that often in LA. Then we were ushered in by the Maitre'd to a cozy alcove that had beautiful views of the City. I felt as if we were members of a private club. The server was gracious and attentive and the food, again, was spot on. I had the oysters (repeat from my first visit) and then a risotto with seafood. My girlfriend had the salmon which she said was the best in the City. After we finished we decided to have our coffee on the Terrace so we slipped out the side door. We sat for a while under heaters and enjoyed the fantastic view of the City. A plate of warm chocolate chip cookies came to the table as a treat. I don't know about these other reviews, but I will definitely be going back again. And soon!!!
I was dissatisfied start to finish. After hearing great reviews of the restaurant, I decided to see for myself. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived for our 7:30pm reservation on a Saturday night. I found that odd. The food and service were only so-so. After a $350+ dinner, we left the hotel for 30 minutes and returned to get our cars. The valet parker asked for $20, even though my ticket was validated by the restaurant. When asked why, they said that the validation is void when you leave the hotel (he insisted that it says so in the fine print on the ticket). We had a little bit of back and forth about this and I ended up giving him the $20 so I could just go home (even though it should have been $8). It also made me think...did he pocket the $12 difference? It just seemed fishy to me since the ticket was stamped by the restaurant. It was a very bad way to end an expensive night of mediocre food and left a very terrible impression of the dining experience in my mind. I will not return. I really expected a better experience start to finish.
