Editorial Review for LAX – by Michael Martin
In Short
Having sizzled in the late '90s as the club that helped instigate Hollywood's nightlife comeback, Las Palmas has been resurrected with the help of Adam Goldstein. Also known as DJ AM, this is his first nightclub after years of playing celebrity functions ranging frm DiCaprio birthday parties to Bolthouse events at Avalon and Concorde. Gone is the Spanish flair and in its place comes a streamline space of neon windows, circular VIP booths and LAX-inspired architecture.

I turned onto Cherokee, passed Geisha House and try to get the $8 structure parking. No luck. So I give up and pay $20 for self parking in the lot between Cherokee and Las Palmas. I thought there'd be a sign that read "LAX". Nope. More like "Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant" The security all seem good-natured yet professional. The inside decor is nice with the jellyfish floating in the illuminated tank at the bar...the mod punch-a-hole black seats in the smoking area...but i dont really understand the world map when you first enter. Crowd was mixed and generally good looking. The bartenders are helpful, the dj was great, but the dancefloor is reallllly small and gets crowded fast. The back patio/smoking area is a nice break from the inside. The womens bathroom...whoever designed the sinks tried a little too hard. You have to pass your hand under the cement block looking thing to find where the water comes out. It's unique but makes the already long line in the bathroom lag.
Pros: staff, jellyfish, dj
Cons: parking, sign outside, bathroom, small dancefloor

No one listen to the people who are recommending this place. It sucks...Bouncers are pointless small men (stout African American) who FORTUNATELY control the freak show, if it wasn't for them I would waste more time and money at the place. And the people recommending this place are most likely females who would have probably gotten accepted at any other club in the world if they were to try.
Pros: There shouldn't be a PROS tab for this club
Cons: don't know where to start
