The Scene – Ruby and burgundy velvet banquettes with cushions line this dark, intimate room, and leather-stamped tables are adorned with tiny flickering glass lanterns. Diners on the aisle-side of the tiny tables sit on cushioned stools. Artsy Middle Eastern photos and abstract paintings hang above well-heeled Beverly Hills locals as their conversations rise above the cool jazz and pop. – – The Food – The restaurant offers an array of refined and subtle classic North African dishes. Salads, sculpted in tiny bites on glass plates, offset contrapuntal flavors and…
Editor's Tips
- Know Before You Go:
- The a la carte menu is only available on weekdays. For weekends, varied set menus are offered, which consist of either seven or eight courses, for $32 and $35. A vegetarian set menu is also offered for $27.
- Where to Sit:
- The two best tables are the comfy corner ones banquettes, one in the front window and the other against the back wall.
- What to Drink:
- A short wine list offers a variety of American and French wines, including a red Moroccan; corkage is $15.

Vegetarian Tasting Menu is a must
by chess1650 at Citysearch
My vegetarian bandit and I needed a good 10pm dinner and Tagine was referred by some writer friends. Great energy from the host at the door, check your ego there while your at it. My friend pretty much does away with menus and intrust the server to do their job. Note, when a male server is older with silver hair, a non-american accent, and a smile on his face you're in for a good night! (this has happened to me at numerous eateries) Our 1st course felt like a good salad I can make, but the rest of the courses transported us to Morocco. Worth every dime. Great place to get your creative stimulus senses flowing.
- Pros: Intimate Vibe, Cool People, and Tasting Menu
- Cons: None
Wonderful, attentive and imaginative

Had the tasting menu with some friends last weekend, and it was fabulous. I have a gluten intolerance, and it can be difficult to find a restaurant that understands this dietary restriction. We called ahead and were told it would be no problem. The chef made me special alternatives for each of the courses with gluten-containing ingredients. No small feat in a pre-set 8 course meal! My friends also loved everything they were served. I was full by the fifth course but kept eating anyway! The space was small, intimate, and comfortable, a great place to go with good friends. I highly recommend it to anyone.
Best dining experience ever!!!

From beginning to end, it was a blast. My girlfriend and I were greeted warmly by Chef Ben, who we found out later is the owner of the establishment. He made us feel so welcome, as if we were his friends from long ago. I noticed he treated everyone he interacted with the same way, between trips to his kitchen. Two servers took great care of us. Both of us ordered Ben's Tasting menu. We were treated to so many wonderful things. Butternut squash soup, striped bass, lamb chop, shrimp w/ a fantastic sauce, honey lamb and my favorite-bastilla and more. It was several delightful small courses that left us perfectly sated. We finished our bottle of pinot noir, which was a perfect temperature. Just a little cooler than room temp, as it should be. A little baklava for dessert w/ the most delicious mint tea I've ever tasted. As we walked out the door, Chef Ben hugged and kissed us both. It was truly a wonderful evening. I thank Ben and his staff from the bottom of my heart and can't wait to go back.
Tasting Menu does not work

I ignored the one bad review on this site and went this weekend. Got in without a reservation but was very disappointed. Was told it was a tasting menu, and no one told us the price (which turned out to be about $35/person). My Pinot Noir was served ice-cold. I told them, but they didn't seem to be very concerned. This place is great if you are on a no-carb diet - no bread and only 1 tablespoon(!) of couscous was served. While the food was good, the tasting menu just leaves you hungry for more of the dishes that you enjoyed. I was offered more couscous because they could see how disappointed I was by only a meager tablespoon.
Please don't go here for your first Moroccan food experience. Dar Magreb or Moun of Tunis is much better and more traditional. I went to Tagine once, years ago, and it was much better then.
- Pros: intimate space
- Cons: tasting menu, tasting menu, tasting menu!!
