What People Are Saying About Cafe Flore

The Owner

Cafe Flore

Owner

Partners Fabien Guoy and Philippe Dray have transformed a former office space into a charming French country cafe. It's done in soothing beige tones from tiled floor to blond wooden tables and chairs, and dappled walls hung with Parisian scenes. A bright blue awning and sidewalk tables invite folks to drop in for le petit dejeuner, a light lunch or satisfying supper, and take-out too.

Who says the French are stuffy? At this bright, tiny storefront cafe, owners Philippe Drey and Fabien Guoy will make you feel as though you've just stepped into their home. (And since at least one of them is always here, it sort of is.) Hidden along the quiet south side of Robertson, the space is a far cry from chic--old Parisian photos, clusters of local awards framed for all to see, a faux cherry blossom tree right in the middle of the room--but its untrained simplicity is where its charm lies. The menu spans breakfast to dinner with morning options like croissants, French toast and omelets, afternoon favorites such as a strawberry-and-spinach salad, and dinnertime dishes like stuffed chicken breast and crepe Suzette. A more unusual offering is the specialty Alsatian pizza, made either traditionally with bacon, onions and sour cream, or with salmon, tomato and mushroom. But whatever you order, it's good to note that food always seems to taste better when served by a cute guy with a French accent.

First of all, the staff is awesome!!! they are always so friendly specially Philip, he knows how to make you feel confortable. The food is really good also, it what makes this small place different. I tried several dishes and from now I never been disappointed. You should definitely check this place during the week end, it s more fun. Not a fan of the onion soup because they do not melt the cheese and just put it on the side but the rest of the food there is simple but delicious. Just practice your french there, it s a great way to learn !!!

So, I WANT this place to be good, I do. However, every time I've been here, I'm so disappointed! The menu is alright; the food is just blah; the ambiance is not that great. I LOVE breakfast food; I go through the week looking forward to breakfast on Saturdays and brunch on Sundays; this place just does NOT do it for me. I don't understand HOW it gets rated Best of CitySearch!

What a great little neighborhood spot! The food is incredible and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I tasted a few desserts and already want to go back for more. I definitely recommend it!
