Editorial Review for Izakaya Haru Ulala – by Martha Burr
In Short
Unpretentious but charming, this family-owned Little Tokyo eatery dishes inventive and inexpensive izakaya--Japanese tavern fare--along with icy Kirin and hot sake. Amber-toned wood tables and chairs, linoleum floors, Japanese posters, and a 14-seat robata bar host a dynamic mix of local Japanese residents, downtown artists, and assorted foodies who flock here for after-work socialzing and late-night noshes. Dishes include deep fried oysters, conch sashimi, slow-cooked Kurobuta pork belly, grilled king crab legs, shrimp-stuffed shitake mushrooms, lotus root tempura and green tea noodles.

Not impressed at all. You're better off at Musha and even Honda-ya. The fact that they have alot of rolls on their menu shows that they cater to crowd that well, isn't really there for true Japanese bar food. Don't bother trying this place unless you really like to eat california rolls along with yakitori.
Pros: WIde selection of food
Cons: Quality not so great

If you like Izakaya restaurant ( Japanese Tapas), than I would recommend people to come to this restaurant. They have a nice quality of small appitizer that can be very tasty that will match with any kinds of beer(s) you drink. Just try it and you will know the difference between a meal and tapas.
