great live music, great place, nice bar, great street parking, great dancing, sketchy stairs, good sound

Tucked below the Echo with access off of Glendale Blvd, the Echoplex is an awesome music venue. Spacious enough to dance with a bar and smoking area as well. Catch larger acts or local faves.
Oh yes.
Came here a couple of weeks ago to see the AppleSeed Cast. My friend who LIVES HERE IN ECHO PARK, apparently found out this place is under the Echo, as in you have to cross the street from The Echo and go down some stairs to the street below which is also under a bridge to get to The EchoPlex, which is a bit bigger than the Echo.
This place is hipster central, full of awkward couples and friends mumbling things like "no I've been wanting to check out this place forever yet I live only a block away" and forms of tourettes that include random shouting of words like "Pabst!! Ironic!! Plaid!! Indie!! Skinny Jeans!! Urban Outfitters!!".
The space is huge here! HUGE! Seating in the form of ottoman arrangements sporadically placed besides beams. The sound is good here! What a venue for s/m/l performances hidden in a these parts!
The bar is nice and long so you don't have to be herded into 2 square feet of counter space. They have many options and appropriately priced drinks. You can also order, through the tenders, some munchies from Two Boots Pizza and they will run it down those sketchy stairs from their shoppe on the street above! Nothing like a veggie pizza and pabst or a drink like a White Russian, which seems like it would fit oh so perfectly into this venue!
Cool place dudes
Get Your Hipster On.
There's nothing better than a live show and catching a band at the Echoplex is loads of fun.
Just below Sunset and through an alley off Glendale, the Echoplex may seem like a small place at first but go further and you discover lots of seating, a large dance floor and two bars. There's also an outside patio.
I like almost everything about it except the drinks which are in small plastic cups. And the parking. If you don't get there early enough, you have to park on Sunset and walk down the scary smelly stairs to access the Echoplex.
Live music, dancing and pricey drinks.
Huge dance floor, great music, street parking.
Wednesday night is dub club (reggae)

EchoPlex. Definitely under rated place. But I love this place because it's low key and they always have great live music and concerts here!
Club Suicide @ The Echoplex.
Suicide Girls recently opened a new dance club at the Echoplex. It's a lot of fun so come check it out! DJs Amanda Jones (Perversion, Das Bunker) and Robert Lockerby (Clockwork Orange) play a fun, upbeat mix of Electro, Indie, and '80s music while Suicide Girl go-go dancers grind on stage. It's a cool mixed crowd, and a fun, party atmosphere. We're running the last Saturday of every month. And, we're 18+!
Yes, I am one of the promoters. But, please review us if you've been!
Good atmosphere, great dancing. The best things I've ever been to at the Echoplex are the Check Yo' Ponytail shows (which were 18+) that have live DJs spinning electronic music and lots of hip kids dancing. The place is great because the crowd is young but the vibe is still pretty relaxed. Fun couches and seating for mingling and flirting, too.
Echo Park's gothic-inspired underground nightclub where hipsters rock out to indie bands..
In Short
Hidden underneath the Echo via a dark stairwell, this basement-turned-club is covered in black paint and lit from the yellow glow of candles. Disheveled hipsters order drinks from leather-coated bars and sit on black leather ottomans and bar stools. A giant projection screen plays retro films and serves as the backdrop for musicians rocking out on a spotlit stage. Bands playing everything from reggae to rock as well as live DJs are featured every week.
