Editorial Review for Zip Fusion Sushi – by Randi Schmelzer
In Short
With black leather upholstery, slate-and-scarlet walls, a long wooden bar and iridescent glass accents, this candlelit lounge feels more like its downtown Arts District sibling than its 405-adjacent neighbors. The menu--which mingles Japanese, Korean and Californian flavors--includes both standard nigiri and more innovative offerings like tempura-dipped salmon-tuna-avocado-egg-asparagus rolls. Salads come topped with thin strips of spicy pork or fried chicken. Other popular selections are spicy tuna-stuffed baked calamari and Korean-style beef ribs.

I love coming to Zip because its so easy. I like to sit outside and drink and hang out with friends. It has a laid-back vibe, friendly staff and its not pretentious at all. I felt compelled to write a review because I've noticed a truly positive change in their food/menu. I recently tried the Ichiban roll...it had salmon and mango inside, spicy tuna on the outside topped with shrimp. Absolutely delish! They are also a great spot for larger parties (been there for more than a couple bdays) and for all you closeted singers like me they have private karaoke rooms.
Pros: Laid-back spot, outdoor seating, sushi bar, karaoke
Cons: Street parking is annoying at times. I use the underground lot.
