What People Are Saying About The Spot Gourmet Catering

In Short – Outside, an antique carousel lion guards the plate glass windows and patio tables. Inside, vintage New Orleans is conjured up with stained glass, crystal lamps, painted murals, marble cafe tables and polished wood. Jazz aficionados and JPL techies alike stop in for lumberjack breakfasts, espressos, and lunches of soups, sandwiches, and salads. Dinner kicks it up a Cajun/French notch with gumbo, escargot, catfish fingers, crawfish etoufee, smothered pork chops, shrimp Creole, steak and coq au vin.

AWESOME

by susieqsusieq at Citysearch

I just got married recently and had The Spot Gourmet cater my wedding - Absolutely Awesome!!! I don't even know where to start. Lets see - I was a beautiful bride - that is the most importnat then the groom - who by the way, is adorable - third would be the food, which rocked the house. We went with a gourmet mexican flare - Beef tenderloin perfectly seasoned with just a hint of spice(we were a little worried the spice might be too much) But, it was perfect - cooked, seasoned, and was served with this bourbon ancho sauce that I swear if i was not at the head table i would have licked my plate! We had a honey glazed salmon with this black bean sauce and a jalepeno crema garnish - the salmon was so light and flaky - I cried. Need I go on - YES! thier corn dip - was to die for! I can't thank them enough oh, and the miniature chili rellano as a passed app kicked ass

i was so nervous about all the things that could go wring - yes i was a bit of bridezilla - but they were so nice to me - Patty was who I worked with and she was always avaialable to answers any of my questions and make changes. I could not have asked for nicer person. The staff the nite off was excellent and i swear i had a shadow b/c anytime I needed anythign there it was - i felt so special - i wish i could get married every week - with the same husband of course!!

THANKS THE SPOT!!!!

AMAZING!

by MTK09 at Citysearch

We recently got married and used The Spot as our caterer. Our Wedding exceeded our expectations and part of the reason is because how truly yummy all the food was. We keep getting calls/emails from our friends and family raving about the food. A truly perfect wedding has a lot to do with the comfort of food, everything that was served was impeccable.

One of the appetizer we chose was the Tuna Tartar, it was the first time my mom had ever tried tuna tartar. My aunt was able to convinced her to try it not telling her what it was until she ate it. She finally tired it and said she had 3 more pieces after that. Everything The Spot served was a complete success, we loved everything and wished we had asked for a doggie bag to take with us at the end of the night, but we heard there weren't many left overs and a few people even asked for second helpings!

The wait staff hired were very attentive and friendly. There were a few that came up to our table to wish us congratulations which we thought was very kind and heartfelt. They refilled our glasses and kept a careful watch on us, anytime we returned to our Sweetheart Table they were there asking us what we needed, we as well as our parents were very impressed with the caliber of people working at our wedding.

We have had a few inquiries regarding the recipe to your roasted red pepper soup, we know a chef never tells their secrets but we have to go back to purchase more soup.

Our guests were very impressed that the food was served at the perfect temperature especially coming out of the outdoor kitchen. The sea bass was cooked perfectly and the beef was so tender that we didn't need a knife. We were concerned that the food wouldn't turn out as good as it did at the tasting, but it exceeded the tasting.

We plan on hiring The Spot again for our upcoming events and highly recommended them to everyone.

Fabulous catering for our Pasadena wedding, and all within our budget!

by 0hdian at Citysearch

The food was wonderful, and each of our 90 guests made a point of saying so. (In fact, they were eating so much that they didn't have time to drink anywhere near as much as we anticipated! Woohoo! We returned it for additional savings!) At the end of the evening, they packed up the leftovers, labeled them, and sent them home with me. As bride, I hadn't eaten much at all, so it has been fun to sample (and then freeze) the left overs.

The food was ALL wonderful, the menu choices difficult to choose between, the staff attentive and efficient and cheerful, and it all came in as promised, on time, first-rate, and within the budget.

I will use them again, and again. I will also take advantage of their take out Gourmet foods... and if I am feeling particularly generous when I serve one of their meals, I will confess to my guests and give public credit to The Spot.

They are the best. You won't be disappointed.

  • Pros: First-rate catering and takeout
  • Cons: This isn't a sit-down restaurant, so these categories don't fit too well.

Highly recommend!

We just threw a party for 50 people at our home. The Spot Gourmet catered our event. We chose The Spot based on positive reviews online, and we were happier with the outcome than we could've imagined. They were professional, worked within our budget, supplied plenty of amazing food, and picked up the dishes the next day. ALL of our guests loved the food. We had a group that included meateaters from Texas and vegans from LA, and everyone was thrilled with the cuisine. It was the best catered party I've ever been to, and it was at our house! Gotta love it. We highly recommend The Spot. We will be using them again - definitely.

Best kept secret!

by jdash at Citysearch

We were referred to the Spot Gourmet to cater our wedding last weekend and they did not disappoint. We decided on a Cal-Spanish theme and the food was absolutely delicious. They began the cocktail hour with passed appetizers of herbed pork and beef meatballs in a chimichurri sauce, cumin spiced french fries served in a paper cone with a roasted tomato aioli, and shrimp fritters.I was apprehensive about how the fries would turn out, but, like the pros that they are, it was fried on "the spot" so it was completely fresh! Seriously, everyone at the cocktail hour was talking about the food. They then passed around small cups of crab bisque just before dinner that was velvety and rich. Can I say scrumptious?

The dinner menu achieved an even higher note of praise:

Mixed baby greens and endive salad with caramalized pears, manchego cheese, candied pecans in a walnut vinaigrette, Pesto crusted salmon with a lemon creme sauce, slow roasted tri-tip with a pomegranate rioja sauce, paella, scalloped potatoes and sauteed baby vegetables.

Everything was AMAZING! I cannot even describe the moments of bliss that we had eating (and yes, we sat down and ate!). The food is well seasoned, which translates into BIG flavor. This is food with soul. Several people came up to us throughout the evening to tell us that it was the best food at any wedding they ever had! And we've all been to weddings with bland chicken and uninspired beef to know that you should spend your money where it counts, and that is the Spot Gourmet....and some top shelf booze!

On top of it all, they were so professional and kind. Their catering manager, Leroy, was a gem. He timed everything and guaged the evening perfectly so that everything ran smoothly. The bartenders and servers were also equally professional and did an excellent job.

Now, I have to think of a reason just to get them back so I can have more of their delicious food!

  • Pros: professional staff, amazing food
