NOT WORTH IT! Don't try to go if you are black..
I went out on saturday for a night of drinking with my girlfriend and her friends. One of her friends is dating a black man. I was running later than the rest of the group cause I was coming from work. When the rest of the group tried to enter they refused her friends boyfriend. They said because his pants were baggy. I showed up after this. My pants were just as baggy as his. I as a white man tried to enter and I have no problems. Even though we had the same style of pants. My group was angry that obvious racism like this can happen in a place like Pasadena.
Thier food is subpar and expensive.
Thier drinks selection is good and reasonable.
Crowd is late 20's -30 year olds.
There are much better places in Pasadena to go than this place.

Great Service... but.... This restaurant is close to work and home so it's a great place to meet and hang out with friends. However I just had another disappointing meal there. They can't seem to cook steak the way it's ordered. My recommendation is to have the Prime Rib, it's always good and done just the way you order it. The service here is great. They are always apologetic and offer to re-cook it <they are 2 for 2 on not getting it right the second time either> and are nice about taking it off the bill. But I go to restaurants to eat, not have 2 free bites of steak. Stay away from thicker cuts, they seem to have a problem with that. Great service though. I just wish they would focus on getting it right the first time.

Good for drinks, not food.
As far as Pasadena goes, the menu is pretty typical: overpriced! The menu itself has a great selection, however you are really not getting what you pay for. While the food tastes slightly above average, at the price it was sold, it felt like a complete rip-off. I don't mind paying more to get a better meal, however at the UCC I was surprised at the amount of food for the high price, as well as the quality.
I'd recommend going there on weekend nights to find locals. They've got an average drink cost and the ambiance at night is perfect for friends or coworkers.

The Union Cattle Co in Old Town Pasadena.
The Union Cattle Company is one of the best places for Steak! (Watch out Chop House)
The food is fresh, delecious, and very reasonably priced and the wine is too. Even if you want to hang out with co-workers on the 5 sofas in the back area where people get to ride the BULL (it is soo much fun) Geat place for drinks and smoking is allowed in the alley (for you smokers)

My favorite place in old town!. The Union Cattle Company is amazing! The food is fresh, delecious, and very reasonably priced. Waiters remember you after only a few visits, and the decor is classy country. I had my last birthday party in the HUGE bar area and it was a hit with all of my friends, particurally the ones whom I convinced to ride the bull.

Editorial Review. Pasadena offshoot of Hermosa Beach chophouse favorite boasts the same mechanical bull, western-style cocktail lounge, and plentiful steaks and chops.
