Editorial Review for Floyd's 99 Barbershop – by Mar Yvette
In Short
If the goateed barbers and flourescent-haired stylists don't clue you in to this salon chain's vibe, then the garage doors, blaring music and famed poster wall of rock heroes, movie stars and sexy sirens certainly will. With a spunky mix of retro charm (leather and chrome barber chairs, shampoo bowls at every station and the classic striped barber pole) and modern cool (internet stations and plasma screen TVs), the shop sticks to basic services like unisex cuts, blowouts and coloring treatments.
Hits: Prices are reasonable (about $20 for a basic cut) with each added service such as shampoo, blow-dry and styling priced incrementally.
Misses: Because haircuts are walk-in only, the wait can be agonizingly long, especially on weekends.

Dear other consumers: Just have to tell you how much I loved this place. Just moved here. . . didnt know anyone or where to get my hair cut- ahhh! Well long story short- kinda- found Floyd's Barbershop (Yes! they do women) and I am in Love!!! Went to the Melrose shop- Front Desk guy was so pleasant and put me at ease that the stylists and colorists knew what they were doing and I would be taken care of. Well- I was! My stylist- Bryan was awesome. Took such good care of me. He gave me the best color I have ever had. Not to mention- I have curly hair and sometimes it can be hard to cut. No way! Worked out great. Love my cut and can't stop looking at my hair. So very pleased, in case you can't tell. I would rec going here for a fun cut and color- def get color done that way you can request an appointment. To all those people hating on this place- maybe you just didnt tell them what you wanted- ever think of that you undecisive people!? plus -Loved the music and posterwall- no boring white walls like most salons. Love Floyds and I am going again soon! : ) thnx
Pros: ummm Bryan- and the poster wall and neat ambiance
Cons: No Con here

oh my goodness, i have to say i've had some bad haircuts in my time, but none have ever made me cry. i have NO idea what he was thinking when he cut my hair. i brought a picture to show along the lines of what i wanted, simple shaggy cut...let me tell you it was a straight cut along the bottom, and a second layer on top, staight across. it was awful!!!! i quickly drove to the store picked up bobby pins(i could no longer put my hair in a ponytail) i didn't wear my hair down for two months! if there was a way to give half a star or minus stars i would have. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!
Pros: neat atmosphere
Cons: haircut!!!!!!!
