What People Are Saying About Pueblo Viejo

In Short – This cool, dark space is inviting on hot afternoons and slightly cavernous by night. The main dining room has marbled walls; in back, Diego Rivera prints decorate crimson plaster. Though it can be quiet, the occasional Latin band livens things up. The menu is Mexican with a healthful twist. Tomatillo quesadillas are cheesy disks with green salsa, and the chipotle chicken is also popular. Mix-and-match combos, with tacos, rellenos and burritos, round out the menu. –
Shady on the outside, Characteristic on the inside

Me and my lady were waiting to eat dinner at Larchmont Grille and decided to check out the surrounding businesses, when we came across a slightly ajar door that looked like the entrance to a biker bar... After much convincing I finally got her to come inside just to have a drink and see what was lurking behind this mysterious entrance.
Little did we know we were invited by a very cozy casa-like restaurant with a small bar and happy employees. We grabbed a couple margaritas and were quite comfortable. We didn't get a chance to eat but reviewed their menu and munched on some amazing chips and salsa with a kick.
This place doesn't look like much from the outside but it is definitely worth checking out! Very Inexpensive, with an extensive home style menu cooked from the heart with great service!
- Pros: Friendly Staff, Very reasonable prices!
- Cons: Shady exterior...

Good Prices but just an "Okay" Meal
by LoveLAEaten at Citysearch
I recently visited Pueblo Viejo after reading a few reviews here on CitySearch and found it to be just "okay." Not to say it was bad, but I've had better. The price is right here and you do get what you pay for but there are much better options in Los Angeles. The staff was very friendly and the margaritas were good. The waitress suggested the enchilada/shrimp taco combo which wasn't bad, but the rojo enchilada sauce tasted like the kind you buy from the store and I didn't particularly enjoy the pinto beans that accompanies the combo dishes.
- Pros: Good price, parking in the back, margaritas, friendly staff
- Cons: Chips and salsa are not complimentary
