Editorial Review for Bread Bar – by Michael Martin

In Short
Equidistance between Cedars-Sinai and Robertson Boulevard, French owner/chef Eric Kayser sweetens up Third Street dining with this cozy soup-salad-sandwich boutique. The lofty cafe boasts high ceilings and a long counter, which displays various breads, pastries and desserts. A wall of glass encloses two rows of tulip-shaped wire chairs for inside dining opposite a modest street-front patio. A Parisian-leaning menu features nicoise salads and Brie sandwiches served on signature homemade fig, walnut or crusty whole grain bread.

Insider Tips

When to Go

Avoid the peak lunch-hour rush between 1pm and 2pm, when the staff from Cedars-Sinai compete with New Line execs for prime seating.

Parking

Meters are available on Third, and in the surrounding neighborhood--the most affordable public garage is just north of the restaurant on Robertson.

Where to Sit

The inside dining room is preferable to outside, as road rage honking and random roller skaters can make the patio a bit distracting.

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

The pastries here are definitley the best I've ever had outside of Paris - so I used to just call in on Saturday morning and pick up some nice stuff for the weekend - but recently I actually stopped in for lunch with a friend and it was one of the nicest places I've been for a meal for ages. The service was really personable and friendly, our waiter seemd happy to be there, which makes a nice change. The food! I had a really really good brushetta appetizer - quite different, and the sweet potato fries that came with my ahi burger were soooo good! I would totally recommend this place

Pros: Food, friendly service

Cons: none

I had lunch today at the Bread Bar in Century City! Wow, what an experience! Patrice the Manager was so friendly and made sure we had a great dining experience! The service was friendly and efficient, the quality of food is so good for the price! I Highly recommend this restaurant! You HAVE to try the OLIVE Bread, so fresh and tasty!
