very good bbq sauce, bad service, favorite place, delicious baked beans, compliment bbq, full restaurant, like pork ribs
OK......SORRY BONEYARD BUT 1 STAR!
should be 0 star
Been here before and it was always good, I wouldn't say great but good/solid. I am not a craft beer guy so that doesn't help. (when did Microbrew turn into 'Craft'?)
Friday night with some friends. 4top
Ordered apps. 1x cevice 2x fried dates.
Fried dates were good
Strike 1. Got a plate of heirloom tomatoes instead of cevice. (We'll forgive)
The cevice once it was brought out was sweet and unappetizing (Foul)
Since we were 4 we decided on: "The Evanator(2 to 4 People)
Rack Each of the Ribs, Pulled Pork, Tri Tip, Brisket, 1/2Chicken, Lg. Mac, Cole Slaw, & Beans $85"
The sides were good.
The meat was COLD!!!! (Strike 2)
Asked waitress to heat it up (my friend who made the reservations was mortified)
She brought it back LUKE WARM AND BURNT ON THE OUTSIDE. (Strike 3)
I was angry, I have worked in the restaurant business in the past and this is completely unacceptable
I rudely said "This is crap" (my bad, foul on me) and said I would like them to bring us a 'NEW' one.
Guess what - now our food was brought out again....the same food....burnt to a crisp on the outside LUKE WARM!!! (STRIKE 4?)
What a joke. Since we were here with friends we rarely see, we decided to grin and bear it but I assure you if this was just the Mrs and I we would have walked out.
We all picked at it....when the waitress came by she asked if we would like it to go....the ongoing joke at this point was "yes please...we can then take it home and heat it in the microwave"
So.....check comes out. No offer of dessert or drinks because of the trouble - AND-........the heirloom tomatoes that we never ordered and were replaced were on the tab!!!!!!!!!
What a @#$%&!!!!! joke of a place this is.
Bill was $200 (we drank and had apps)
Sooo dissaponted and feel ripped off
Thanks for listening!!!
Thanks For the Food Poisoning!!!. I had a delicious Kobe burger with Blue Cheese for dinner. I was having a splendid sleep until I was awakened by stomach pains that had me performing evacuations from both ends. I lost two days of work from this incident and had to hire a baby sitter to look after my son while Daddy was puking his brains out for two days. Thanks Bone Yard!!!
Amazing Restaurant, with Exceptional Service, Food, Beverage. Wow! This restaurant is awesome! The food was different and so delicious. They have all kinds of different California micro brewery beer, and you can get it in $2 glasses so the beer won't get cold. They had so many different flavors, and their wine list is extensive. We topped it off with good coffee and an awesome desert. The bartender was wonderful. The service was the best we had all had in a long, long while. Can't wait to go back. Oh, and the decor was great too!
Citysearch Editorial Review. This expansive BBQ joint right on Ventura Boulevard ha has a little something for everyone. For boozehounds, there's 43 beers on tap from all over the world and a sizable bar area where they can be enjoyed. The beer menu alone takes up a few pages with sections such as Golden, Strong & Blonde to Amber and Saison. For families with loud little ones, there's a kids' menu and a covered sidewalk patio area that's great for keeping them from disturbing the mellower scene inside. And then, of course, there's the BBQ. The traditional hickory-smoked dry rub is smudged on everything from the baby back ribs (which many claim are the best in LA) to pulled chicken and pork. Sides include classics like cole slaw, collard greens (careful, they're unusually sweet) and fried mac-and-cheese, which look like fried tofu triangles.
What A Nightmare.
I've eaten here a dozen times and the food is usually B+/A- at best. But it is close to my home and my wife wanted BBQ.
The service was slower than usual, tables that came after us were served and had left before we received our entree. My wife had to ask where our meals were and when they arrived the chicken I had ordered was not hot, more room temperature. I told the waitress I would eat it but that she should be aware that it had obviously been sitting while my wife's ribs were being plated. Well this brought down the wrath of the owner, who accused us in a very loud and angry tone that we knew nothing about the restaurant business and were trying scam a comped meal. His exact quote was, "I bet you do this all the time" He said he would pack our food and send us on our way. When I insisted on paying he grew even angrier and said he didn't want my money. I told him I wasn't leaving until I got the bill. I paid the bill, left 20% for the waitress, and came home to write this review.
Ill-managed. We arrived at the exact time of our reservation but there were no tables. Since there isn't a bar, there was no place to wait except to stand by the entrance. With no apologies, we were asked to wait outside (in the rain) for a table to open up. We left and will not return. Are they new to the business? Why would I ever make a reservation there again when they don't take them seriously?
Booooo. Worst ribs I've ever had. Even Chillis does a better job. Save your money and go there, at least their baby-back ribs have a catchy jingle!
Disapppointed. Like the other reviews...save your money...the BBQ ribs on the dry side....and chewy...the pulled pork dumplings...don't bother...to sweet...bake beans the worst I've ever had...what did you do to them....everything was over priced....only one type of wine by the glass and over priced...good beer slection though and desert...sorry!!!!!
Don't even bother...save your money. This was the worst barbecue I have ever eaten. I took a chance and ordered the short ribs. They were dry and had very little flavor. My boyfriend ordered the rib combination wanting to try all three, he was happy with none of them. They were dry...no tenderness. If not for the extra sauce, he would have thrown it all away. Even the corn bread was dry. The one saving grace was their selection of beers and the cheerful waitress. Need to bury this boneyard in the graveyard.
Best BBQ Ever!.
In 30 years of travelling the midwest (incl. texas) this is hands down the most incredible bbq I have ever eaten, and that includes the backyards of some kansas city and texas folks who take their bbq very very seriously (including my own!).
We ordered several "sampler" platter of bbq dishes to feed 6 of us, and every single food item on the platter was beyond delicious. Each selection of tri-tip or rib was perfectly cooked, the fried mac and cheese was a great twist, and the bbq sauces were so good I felt a little ashamed of the way I was eating (and I do not shame easily). The cole slaw was also a new spin on an old favorite, both original and flavorful. Normally cole slaw is not really my thing, but I ate every bite. A few weeks have passed since this experience, but I still think about those ribs from time to time (not kidding).
As for the price, I can't remember exactly what the food cost because by the time the check came, I just didn't care. I would taken out a loan for another plate of those ribs. Having said that, I believe the food was reasonably priced. ;)
The service was prompt and friendly, which was a nice touch since the place was packed.
