She is Amazing

I grew my hair out to donate, and when it was long enough, I shopped around for the right stylist for weeks. I chose Alyson because of the many positive reviews and the before/after pictures on her website. I have had many horrible salon experiences before and I was terrified of another one. I spoke to her on the phone before scheduling an appointment and she answered all of my questions professionally, calmly and patiently. She lived up to her reputation and beyond! The cut is amazing and she spends time talking to you and asking what you are looking for in a haircut/style. She cuts exactly what you want! She also uses products without sulfates (and gives a great scalp massage during the shampoo). In summary - she is fantastic - if you are nervous or hesitant, just give her a call and she will answer all of your questions. Enjoy your future fantastic haircut!!

Best hair cut in town

When it comes to hair, Alyson is an artist!!!!! I have never seen anyone cut hair with such attention to detail as Alyson does.

Not only is the cut amazing, but it grows out beautifully too. the cut lasts and lasts.

I have worn my hair long for 20 years, and Alyson is the only person that I'll let come near me with scissors...

This Girl ROCKS!!!!!!!!!! Now go get a haircut !

BEST HAIRCUT EVER

Alyson has been cutting my hair for about 3 years now and I will never ever go to anyone else again. I have naturally curly hair and had nothing but bad experiences at salons.

I found Alyson online when I searched "curly haircut los angeles". Her haircuts are amazing. She is very detail oriented, takes the time to listen to you, and gosh, I just don't know of a better stylist! The first cut she gave me was a graduated bob. I didn't know curly-haired people could get such a cute bob! All the haircuts since then have been amazing. I just love her!

She was so nice on the phone when I first called her, and is always very kind, professional. I recently even called her on advice about getting a Brazilian Blowout hair straightening. She took the time to give me advice on how I should look for a stylist, and even explained to me the technical aspects of the product/process.

I have straight hair now after the Brazilian Blowout, and still don't want anyone else to cut my hair except Alyson. I am so thankful that I met Alyson - Love Love Love!

Relief

Well, I’m now a reformed, hairdresser lover… I’ve been to see Alyson this week and I cannot express my gratitude enough for this superb artist.

I’m a new arrival to LA and had several trepidations regarding my first trip to a local hairdresser, erroneously assuming I’d be subjected to a pretentious and vacuous environment, and leave feeling like I’d been robbed of a month’s grocery money. Pre-Alyson, I had pretty bad hair, and I’d been dreading the embarrassment of having to explain the strange, cost-cutting transformations it had been through (drug store hair colour is the devil).

After a long phone conversation with Alyson and then a free, lengthy in-salon consultation (I like to repeat questions, but in slightly different ways), I decided to book with her for the big day. It just felt right and my vision became her vision, but an enhanced and more technical one.

On the day, I turned up in my gym gear, flip flops and a nervous smile on my face and let Alyson work her magic. As alluded to above, my hair was like a treasure trove of colour and, in terms of the cut, had fallen victim to my student budget and a former stylist who didn’t speak much english. Were I to hazard a guess, I’d speculate that this ex stylist of mine failed school geometry.

After my amazing cut, Alyson carefully laid out a mini-apothecary of natural hair-colours and even ran back for more when she uncovered hidden gems of colour deep within the thickets of hair. Each section received personal attention. In fact, she even got me to come back again so that she could make what was already perfect somehow even better. Her endurance level and patience are phenomenal.

Alyson’s main concern was to not take the lengths of my hair lighter than she’d need to in order to get rid of the blackness and match it to a shade slightly lighter than my naturally-light brown roots (to get that sun-kissed look). Most salons would bleach the life out of hair in this situation and destroy it in the process. Not Alyson.

Alyson reassured me throughout, showing more gentleness and patience that one would normally receive peri-operatively. I didn’t feel embarrassed or judged at all!

Time with her has an almost ethereal feel to it; her spirituality, knowledge and dedication to her craft is awe-inspiring. As for the products she uses, you may have noticed, fellow converts, that she takes an armful of beautifully-labelled bottles over to the sink… These natural alternatives--along with her hair colours and styling products--are lovingly selected for us, her lucky few.

Alyson, you are a sweetheart and a true artist. For the first time in years, my hair is a feature for me to enjoy; it has life and energy!

My hair and husband thank you, as do I!

Alyson Powell gives a great cut

Alyson gives a wonderful haircut. She considers your shape face, head shape and texture of hair into consideration for each person. For women, Alyson focuses on giving a cut, which will be pretty and soft, to compliment you. She has been cutting my husbands hair for years, and he will not go to anyone else. Alyson is incredibly nice, and there is not a phoniness or snobbiness to her, which is refreshing. She is very holistic and into using all natural products. Alyson, also, has been cutting hair for years, and experience is an important quality in a hairdresser.

• Pros: Can do many different style cuts very well.
• Cons: She gets busy, so book an appointment in advance.
